I really want to play tekken tag tournament 2 so if I run the game offline will I be safer than running online? Or should I just wait.
I'm on LT+3.0 btw

I personally wait until the games verifies through ABGX before playing it. That's the safest bet. There is no difference between online and offline play. The 360 stores the infoformation that would flag/ban you in the NAND. There are no HDD/MU tricks that can help.

Friend of mine is playing games before the release date.
I warned him sufficiently about the consequences but he keeps on ignoring it.

He says that pulling out the HDD+LAN and not sign in with any profile will works.

However I do agree with hundshamer.
Just DO NOT play games before the release date.
You already have your DVD drive flashed and are pulling suspicions from MS with that already.
Don't do anything to pull more suspicions.

Just wait a couple of days and then you're safe to play it.

Ofcourse after you patched it with ABGX and burned it with an iHAS (if it's an XGD3)
Truncating/overburning might still work but it's questionable if it's safe for not.

They still work fine for now.

However it's not advised to truncate them as this might be detectable by MS.

It could also be that MS will implement a new dash check to check for truncated games.
Or some other checks on XBLive.
No one knows for sure.

So, be prepared to reburn all the truncated discs.
Not that you have to reburn them now but you might, in the future.
