PS1/2 Play PS1 games on chipped PS2?

I bought a hard modded PS2 off a friend yesturday and I was wondering if it could play PS1 games.

If it is, is it also possible to play games from other regions? eg. Tales of Phantasia with translation patch on a PAL PS2.

chip that console if you want to do those you mention.

if you want to swap region.... its easy,, use a swapmagic, in your case, burned swapmagic will work on your console. because its already capable to boot burned copy softwares.
