    Hello Tempers!

I have a question and a poll here.

Do you play as a gender opposite of your own in games (I.E. Guy playing as a Girl, vice-versa) and do you enjoy it?
Do you think those that engage in this act of Gender Freedom are freaks, pervs, etc?
Also how convincing are you in portraying that gender role?

    As for me;

In just about every game that I am given the choice I play as the opposite gender
When it is an MMORPG I talk only in text and act very well like the other gender. (I.E. Don't ace like a whore or an obvious fake female, etc.)
I enjoy doing it at times.
    Reasons:
    1) It allows me "to get outside of my own body" par se, and "escape from gender-defined boundaries"
    2) It has n00b benefits. (I.E., most other guys tend to be nicer to female avatars in game in hopes they will get a friend's request or something like that in return.)
    and
    3) [Not one of my top reasons] Eye Candy, enough said.

No, I am not gay. If I was gay then I would play as a male avatar and hit on other male avatars or chat in a feminine way.

Okay people, Yes or No question poll on the top of the topic here. Don't be shy.(I sure as heck wasn't) Be sure to post your two cents as to why you do or do not play as opposite gender in games.
    -DJ

I find it creepy but in Stick Arena Ballistick I tell lies like I'm an orphan or something like that but at the end of the game I confess but yeah it's freaky (wish I could change my name) to pretend you're the wrong gender, you lead people on.

EDIT : You just had to but Freak up there didn't you [IMG]

A wise man once said you should pick your videogame character based on how good their ass looks, because it's what you'll be seeing most of a time...

Yep, wisest thing I've heard all day.

I don't think that people who play as their opposite gender are not freaks. They have their reasons to play as their opposite gender and I have my reasons for wanting to play my gender.

    Unless it's first person.
Or if you're playing dragon Age since that game has so many close ups and cut scenes.

    I love you Alistair [IMG]

I wouldn't play as the opposite gender in most games unless I'm forced to. I'm not in disapproval of those who do either, heck I support sex change in real life.

One reason why you should never date online. Who knows? You might date the wrong person.

If the game offers character customization I usually try to recreate myself. If I have a choice of a bunch of predefined characters, I usually choose female if available as that's what I'd rather be looking at the whole time.

So no one heard that song 'Will you like to date my avatar' on youtube?

To the first question, No. Gender-Bending is wrong, has anyone watched Futurama?
To the second question, No. Its the internet, I have seen most fucked up shit. If its allow on there then let it happen.

Yes, I do play as girly characters ^__^
But in Dragon Quest, my main character is a boy representing myself, and three others are my girl harem ^___^

Usually, nope, i just played as a male character

but sometimes i do play as a female character, mostly because their clothing looks nicer [IMG]

that and i know of people who played as female character who did it just for the freebies that people tend to give to female characters [IMG]

I never realy played as the opposite gender unless I was forced to like it was neccesary in the game like final fantasy 10 part 2. I don't know theres just something about pretending to be a girl in an online game like world of warcraft that freaks me out. (No offense to any one that does)

    No to both questions.
Although I can understand why you could do it, I just find it plain weird and prefer to play the game my way.

    Nope.
I don't understand why someone would want to play as an opposite gender. There are no benefits in doing so.
I agree with gettogaara. It's a bit weird to play as an opposite gender in a MMO game.

Edit: Ace Gunman has a point. I will play as the opposite gender if required by certain games. If I'm not forced, I won't play as the opposite gender.
