Hello everyone. When I was far younger, I loved playing on my PS3. It's easily the console I've spent more playtime hours on. Unfortunately, one day, we got the infamous YLOD error and decided that trying to reball it or anything similar wouldn't be worth it. However, as I was still a kid when this happened, my dad decided for us and bought a PS4 instead. (Don't get me wrong, the PS4 is great in my opinion and in the last years it has given me a ton of fun too)
A few days ago I got a really bad nostalgia strike and decided to download RPCS3 because I really wanted to play some of my childhood games back again, but I've found out that I can't get to run many of them, as any game marked with Ingame compatibility or lower is pretty much unplayable. So I've been thinking of buying an used PS3 and set it up in my bedroom with some old monitor.
So these are my questions.

So these are my questions.
- I've heard it's best to buy a Slim model in order to prevent another YLOD. Is this true? Is there any way to make sure the system won't die to the same sh*t again? What model should I buy?
- Is installing a CFW worth the effort if I would only want it for downloading games for free? I mean, I could always buy those games on Amazon or something, but if I can just download them it would be nice.
- How much HDD memory should I buy my PS3 with? Is it easy (and safe) to install a bigger HDD if I wanted more storage?
- Are the servers still working? Do they have an announced shutdown date?
