I was wondering exactly the same thing today. The plants I've grown are from the same batch of seeds but some look very different to the others, which is making me wonder if some are male and some are female. They are being pollinated, but I don't know if it's necessary. I'll google it

Ok, sunflowers have both male and female organs but do require pollination as their pollen is heavy. Unfortunately I doubt the mutant sunflower from hell will be pollinated even if it is capable of reproducing.
