    On the wiinja website I read that the Pioneer 111 has problems with certain media?

    Having a Pioneer 111 DVD burner : is it any good in backing-up a WII disc and is it any good in making a copy of it to a DVD.

    All dvd writers have issues with som emedia, especially crappy ones like Princo, that's not a 111 specific issue. Just get quality brand like Verbatim and u'll get fantastic burns with the 111d

    Yes but like Lafleche said im sure ive read somewhere that the pioneer 111 even has problems with verbatims when burning Wii games. I would have thought that the majority of people would have 111's so we need to find a good working media.

    I've just today bought and installed a Pioneer 111D burner. I've flashed it to a 111L but am yet to do any burning with it.
    I bought it because of the very good reports and disc quality scans I've seen from users with it.

    I will burn and then scan a couple of different discs with it later and let you know how it goes.

    I'm still waiting for my Wiinja so I can't yet comment on how my Wii will read it.

    What dreassica said is true and even the best burners can't write all media well. Stick to good media. Most branded Verbatim, TDK, Fuji should be very good, there are many more cheap and crappy brands than good ones.
    I believe that -R might be better for the Wii to read but that is to be confirmed yet.

    The Pioneer 111 series is held in high regard by people in the know. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

    Here is the quote Lafleche is talking about..............

    "TESTED MEDIAS :

    TDK DVD-R --> 16x -- PERFECT
    XTRA DVD-R -> 8x -- PERFECT
    IMATION DVD-R --> 16x -- PERFECT
    VERBATIM DVD-R --> 16x -- PERFECT
    VERBATIM DVD+R --> 4x -- PERFECT (Burn it DVD-ROM BOOKTYPE)
    EMTEC DVD-R -->> 4x -- Produces DRE on WII and Gamecube Modes
    PLEOMAX DVD-R --> 16x -- PERFECT
    PRINCO DVD-R -- > 4x -- Not Good Perfomance

    SOME DVD BURNERS LIKE PIONEER 111d doesn't like too much the DVD Brands above .. if you get dre's with them .use someone like RITEK or similar ..."

    As you can see, Verbatim is included in the list.

    I use 111d for my 360 isos on verbatim DL media and I've never had a problem. Hard to find a better burner for the price it is.

    360 games are not the issue. we all know that the 111d is confirmed as the best drive for 360 but it has been reported that it isnt very good for Wii games on certain brands. I guess we will know more when people start to get there chips. Me included as i also have the 111d.

    Yes it has both those features.
    Thanks for clearing up the T@2 thing. Though it sounds very British to me:-
    "what are you up to this afternoon me lad?"
    "oooh, not much. I'm awfully peckish, even after that lunch we jus' 'ad"
    "well then I'll be seeing you soon for some tea at two then!"

    The pioneer 111 is one of the best writes out. Works flawlessly with xbox 360 dual layer backups. Should be good with wii backups too.

    Well my TDK 16X -R burn wasn't very impressive.
    I'm trying more media now though. Hope it gets better.

    I got the Pioneer for XBOX 360 ISO burning too. Burners are so cheap now I don't mind having a few.
    That said I hope to get some quality single layer burns out of it too.
    Just burned a Verbatim 8X -R in the Pioneer. I'll quality test it soon.

    I've run low on media though, I've only some Riteks here left to try. Must get more discs!
