If a troll trolls in the EoF and nobody's around to read it, did they troll?

    Good question.

I'm going to go ahead and say yes, considering the rule of thumb is not to feed trolls to begin with.

Is the Troll doing the Trolling a literal Troll or a figurative Troll?

A figurative troll, though they might be hideously deformed.

[quotename=wikipedia]In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4] The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted".[/quote]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

The troll should have trolled at the perfect timing, when most people will likely be viewing his/her troll post; if it remains unseen, he/she failed his/her goal to "provoke readers into an emotional response" as there are no readers. That can only mean that the troll was a failure as a troll, and should not consider him/herself as a troll. This is a shame to the reputation of trolls in general. Such disreputable troll should abdicate their status as troll and punch themselves on the face!

    Warning: Spoilers inside!

An attempt to troll is still trolling, even if no one takes the bait. If no one reads it or responds to it, then it is technically a troll-fail, but they are still a troll.

After my stints on the night shift and meeting real life trolls.... I gotta say don't feed them anything, as they will spread the word and all their troll friends will start hounding you to feed them too. the next thing yo know you are surrounded by many hungry trolls... And you are left with no food for yourself...
same thing applies to the internet troll give em a little attention and they will always think they can get more...

Not true! I could be a furry and you wouldn't even know about it, because I don't troll or post about it. Also I am not a furry.... I think.

Wait...... you wanted to provoke an emotional response.... you are trolling, aren't you?

Even attempting to troll costs GBAtemp some bandwidth and other resources so I guess in the strictest sense it could be considered as such. Of course next to GBAtemp's mighty servers it is the equivalent of an ant staring down a black hole.

That makes more sense than it should.
