Was playing shadow hearts only the other day, honestly it has aged much better than a lot of other JRPG's of its time. I do have a huuuuge soft spot for the edgy early 2000's writing and aesthetic!

It reminds me that I need to play through those games. The original Shadow Hearts was a really early PS2 release, and the last game was supposed to be one of the best looking games for the console.

Penny Blood looks like a classic JRPG in the making. The combat looks engaging, and the visuals remind me a little of Wild Arms 3. Good stuff.

The Shadow Hearts creators (assuming also Penny Blood creators) helped create the original Final Fantasy VII. Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenant to me are two of the best rpgs of all time. While From the New World had great gameplay, it was more of a side story than a true sequel I could take or leave that one. But I have unlimited praise for the other two. You will be hooked once you dive into them.

Don't forget about Koudelka.

I never beat that one got to disc 2 then started getting my ass kicked by enemies. Wish I still had my save, too lazy to start over on an emulator.

Yes, Koudelka! That had my attention because the composer of Secret of Mana, Hiroki Kikuta, was the director and composer. (also writer and producer) I think Koudelka randomly became available by way of some kind of emulation service on PC, but I don't think that ever panned out.

Long story short, it's still an expensive game that never got a digital/PSN release.
