PEGI re-rates Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2, but for release on the PlayStation 3

The first two Grand Theft Auto games have just been rated by the European ratings board PEGI, for an apparent release on an unexpected platform. Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 appeared without warning on PEGI's site, showing both games with official age ratings--PEGI 16 and PEGI 18 respectively--but for release specifically on the PlayStation 3. What that means isn't quite clear yet, but either game has a release date of today, April 30, 2020. While the PlayStation 3 is still supported by Sony, the system itself has been discontinued since 2017.

I'm sure that the pc version of 'London' used to be available to download from Rockstars site, but they removed the "Rockstar Classics" section a while back.
It was definitely bundled in a couple of "Classics" collections, and the 1961 mod has always been free, but I don't think 1969 itself has ever been a free download.

If it's released as a PS1 emulation title then PEGI likely wouldn't re-rate it.
welldont bundles need rerating or old games needing it becuase the standards have changed over time? much like many old movies and book now have adult ratting becuase of policy changes that werent the same back then like last action hero is now a 18+ movie and it was a family movie lol.

I'd hate if this somehow turns out to be a remaster or remake of both games. That's been a thing these last days.

Btw, Grand Theft Auto 2 needs more love. I really enjoyed that game.

The first thing that crossed my mind, "why?"

Interesting what if they're planning to make a remaster of some sorts, but using the PS3 as an excuse to shock us all ?

Or maybe could end up on the Nintendo Switch too, that device needs some GTA action. I'm still surprised the studio didn't port GTA5 to the system yet as that thing ran on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. Maybe the porting is just too much work compared to the money, lol.
