aw yeah, as a game dumper, you get to see all kinds of cut content/things you missed from textures like how there is a swear word on a car texture in The adventures of cookie & cream (the car is an enemy btw).
View attachment 447524
Sometimes textures like the one you posted are upscale-able, the weird corrupted stuff below isn't used by the game, I think something tries to fill in the gaps so it's not empty. Anyways just make sure you check your dump after every session so you don't accidentally overload your SSD/HDD cause infinite dumps are no joke, you can rack up 1TB of junk data in just an hour.
Also I heard if you disable "enable mipmapping" in the rendering settings, texture packs should start working again.

That's so interesting, there's a swear word on the car that you never see in game, but it's a kids game, so wouldn't the rating need to be changed? Even if you never see it? I know it's just in the games code, but there was that one golf game that had the first episode of South park in it's as a test that they forgot to remove, and the ESRB had to change the games rating because... Well, it's south park.

Thanks for the heads up about the storage space thing, I'm not running low but I definitely don't want to build up a bunch of random data and overload my PC lol. (Though, it would be worth it for Ape Escape 3)

I'll get a picture later today (I say today but it's 2am as I write this) of my files, but I noticed a lot of the texture dumps are wierd. They're mostly garbled and glitched with random blocks of stuff in them or pixelation. There are like 20 copies of the same image and only 1 or 2 of them look okay. But even then, they seem oddly see through? Semi transparent? Even in the texture I sent it doesn't look as bright as in game, I suppose.

I'll be back with updates later... Eventually. I'll use that duplicate cleaner thing you linked in the original post to try and clean my files, but sometimes as I mentioned there will only be 1 or 2 copies that look clean, the rest bad dump. If I end up having to look through all files individually, I'm resigned to my fate.

Anyway I'm still smack dab in the middle of my persona phase, but between finishing p4g, all 3 dancing games, reading the manga, reading and writing fanfiction, and rewatching the Skylanders show because it was actually good and I forgot about it, I'll somehow find enough time to do this too.

Sorry, seems I rambled.
Anyway, good luck to all those trying to dump textures. Maybe if it's troublesome enough I'll drop a guide with some tips.

It's not as bright because the emulator only uses 128 out of the full 256 opacity limit all textures 126-128 opacity max, It's important to keep that in mind when upscaling so you don't mess up transparancy.
Also that car texture with the curse word IS visible in-game it's just really tiny and the car moves really fast so you'd never get a good look at it and there's no real need to with the way the game is + original resolution should make it almost impossible to tell. Still hilarious

Heres a test for the getaway. Did the first mission, i think the dumps are right but i wanted to upload them and see if somber can check em out and see if they were good/bad dumps. if they are good ill probably go through the game and get the files for you, i have beaten this game before without save states with them shouldnt be too bad. That said, if someone has an infinite health/time cheat it will make the process much quicker for dumping. I set it to dump mipmaps when i started the run in case you needed them, if you want me to turn them off for dumping let me know

Here is the link lmk asap so i dont have to run through the whole game if it isnt dumping right, cheers again

yup looks good, you would know if it's a nightmare in the first minute of dumping, the folder would be filled with 1 or 2 textures. When you're done dumping, I'd recommend seperating all the mipmaps into their own folder and checking to see if DDS works fine with mipmaps enabled. If it does than no need to upscale the mipmaps, if it doesn't than upscale all the images including mips with PNG

I dont really have any experience with upscaling tbh, im just trying to get the dumps for yourself or someone else to do it. 80% of the hard work is playing through the game to get the dumps to begin with since if you havent played the series before or youre not good at racing games, finishing it to get the dumps even with save states would be a nightmare. But thanks for the message ill try and blitz through the game and get the rest of it done in the next couple of days and ill seperate the mipmaps into a subfolder when im done

Up to chapter 4 and already like 34k textures. they all seem to have the triple hyphen though so it seems to be all good. To be expected with a intricate open world game like this. chase sequences are a total pain in the ass. enemies shoot at you as well as cops ramming you off the road changing vehicles 12 times per chase scene. All coming back to me just how shit hard this game is and why it hasnt been upscaled yet. Once i finish this, all the other people in the forum asking for the game is gonna owe me a massive favor lol. until they have to play it for themselves with the new textures haha

Had someone in another thread tell me the dumps are no good so idk if i can be bothered doing any more of them if there is no point.

Could be because he was using the broken updated version of pcsx2 though, where i have been using 1.7.5957 for doing my dumps

Update : Completely Finished the game, files are uploaded here is the link. I'm sure ive gotten like 97% of all the textures in the game, but i cbf roaming around london for hours to try and get it to 100%. i might have done that already, but im not sure since there is no map like every other open world gta styled game out there. I also included all my save states and memory cards in case my textures are bad dumps or you need to go into free roam to get a few more textures to make the pack complete. Happy to finally have finished this brutally hard game, really keen to see what it looks like with upscaling.

hmm, the link works for me on chrome. did you update your browser? I'd rather not re-host that massive file

yes, my browsers are updated, the problem is only with this file I downloaded other files (shining force exa, Capcom vs SNK 2) of the links you provided and the others worked normally.

Unfortunately, the textures are not pulled up well, I used it for SCES-51159_5D18E144.. That is, for example, the textures of trees and shops are not very good, to put it mildly, especially trees. I'm using the newest version of Pcsx2
And apparently the textures are heavy, since the game runs at 20 fps, in the splash screen they move slowly and talk like that...

It works fine without improved textures. My PC: i5-11600k, 2080ti, ssd + 16 gb ddr4

UPD.
In the game itself, FPS is acceptable, but not higher than 25. I try the patch, but the FPS value is still the same - 25-26 in the game. And in videos on the engine with textures, fps is 17-20. But the difference with or without textures is there and visible!

Where can I get a good patch for SCES-51159_5D18E144?

UPD2
Good people on one thematic forum back in 23 posted a 50/60 fps patch for my data:
The Getaway SCES-51159 0x5D18E144
60 fps
patch=1,EE,201F2748,extended,1000000B

Now I have 50 fps in the game and with textures! Super! Now I’ll try to start over and see if the tree will have low textures. Overall - great job! Textures are visible. For some reason, at the very beginning, where you start the chase, I got out of the car and something caught my eye (a shop window and then a tree), it was as if there were no improved textures.

Big THANKS for textures and upscaled to :

dalmatian666 and

SomberShroud

Unfortunately, in engine-based cutscenes, FPS can drop to 20 and characters begin to speak and move slowly..
Even despite the activated patch. But with the patch it’s a little better than without it, although not by much..

woah, I would NOT be running game above 1080p with a 2080ti, first downscale to 1080p and set blending accuracy to basic, then try lowering EE cycle rate to 75% and consider playing 4:3 instead of using widescreen patches. I'd also prefer prechacing textures instead of asynchronous loading for more performance if you have the ram for it (you usually do). also thanks for verifying that it works for European version since it was made for US

I also recommend using the reshade preset. It is generally intended for SH 3 (downloaded from nexusmod), but is great for other games on Pcsx2. Plus, on the advice from the comment, I also included LumenSharp .
Here https://www.nexusmods.com/silenthill3/mods/10
I use preset Silent Hill 3 (Even Less Bloom) + LumaSharpen

first downscale to 1080p
Tell me please , how to do it correctly ?
Post automatically merged:

It turns out that the 2080ti is not powerful enough for my settings? It’s just that the problem is exclusively in the videos on the engine, but in the game, everything is great with the patch! :)
And by the way, do you know how to turn off inversion in the game? That is, to make it convenient to aim. And then I press down, and the sight goes up..

@SomberShroud

Thanks for the tips, I'll try to apply them :) Maybe I need to enable Vulcan rendering?

Post automatically merged:

Some test
I tried Vulcan, it works worse. As a result, in the game itself, the Direct3d 11 + Asynchronous method works at 50 fps. With Vulcan + Preload - FPS drops all the way to 29 and you can see how the world and the player slow down.

Test 2:
I set blend accuracy from Full to High and now in the videos on the engine, everything is fine.

I havent had a chance to test the textures yet but im just about to. I do have a pretty high end laptop so my information may or may not be useful (i9-13980hx and 16gb 4090), but if i have texture issues with it it will pretty much mean everyone will. be back later after i test it a bit. Also i would not recommend using the latest edition of pcsx2 with it, the latest update has broken a lot of texture packs already and could be the problem with fps or texture issues. i dumped them on 1.7.5957 if you wanted to get that release of pscx2 to test them on. Thanks again somber for upscaling em for us

update: tested it for a little bit and was thinking their was freezing issues but somehow the emulator decided to map the pause button to the A button (x for PS controller). changed that in settings and has been working great, and i havent tried the pnach patch yet. Their is a little bit of audio (not game or video) stuttering when i first launched a mission but after a second or two it ran perfectly. I also noticed having mipmapping set to on helps a fair bit in terms of performance. Settings have been at 5k (8x rendering), basic blending, 16x aniso, texture preload full, texture filtering ps2 bilinear. I'm going to soon try maxing it out at 8k and see if the framerate craps itself or not, if not its great news for people with high end desktops or a laptop similar to my msi titan. Really impressed with the graphics after slogging it out the past week without a texture pack, ESPECIALLY the cutscenes. They really do look amazing, and imo, nearly modern day quality. Voice acting definately better than modern day games. Bitter sweet that as keen as i am to play through the game with the texture pack, i just finished it myself so i dont feel like it :(. I will get back for another playthrough in a month or two hopefully. In regards to Black Monday, ill probably have a break today and maybe start working on dumping those later in the week.

Also i did notice a few tree textures warping at times but its not the dump or sombers fault. It was doing that kinda stuff when i played through the game initially dumping the textures except it is more noticeable after the upscale. reason for it is because this was made on the ps2 22 years ago the ps2 had VERY limited gpu vram (like 4mb or something) so the game is hard coded to prioitize the textures most important and using blurry ones for ones further away or outside the cameras field of vision. Unless there is someway for a person to make a mod for this game to increase the LOD (draw distance) i dont think there is anyway to change it, that one minor issue is worth how amazing the rest looks imho though 100%

last update: (i promise): been going around hyde park specifically near where the 3rd mission is and what gennard has said about trees and foliage is true. ive taken some screenshots to show what i mean. lowering the resolution, changing the renderer from vulkan to d3d11 and d3d12 made no difference. and it isnt a performance issue since im running a 16gb 4090 equivalent to a downclocked 4080 desktop. only answer i can think of is if someone wants to dump that specific mission, drive around the art gallery and the parks to redump the textures, and see if somber is able to reupscale them and merge them with the current texture pack. in regards to the shops though, i havent really noticed any issues whatsoever.33.jpg22.jpg21.jpgd.jpg

It's always bitter-sweet as an upscaler to not be able to enjoy your own work since you already beat the game. That's the sacrifice we must make for others and our future selves to enjoy. I'm glad I started this thread because I've already got a few upscales here that I was thinking of doing but someone else provided the dump for me.

Yeah I tested em and it doesnt seem to have made much of a difference. I'm sure the dump is good so i'm gonna try and go the extra mile for the community since i have some extra premium steam game keys i dont need to maybe entice one of the other upscalers to maybe fix this problem for the rest of the people on here. Part of it being my OCD, the other wanting others to be able to enjoy this game without these problems ruining their experience in what is in my opinion, one of the underrated masterpieces on the ps2 (flawed certainly, but still a masterpiece)

Added James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire to the upscaled games thanks to dalmatian666

Also including a potential fix for The Getaway tree textures:
let me know if it works and I'll merge it with the original download

It did not fix the issue, only way to fix it sadly is with a beefy PC (disabling Mipmapping)
