It's about 60% done ATM.
His work has been stagnating at 60% for several months now: I fear this is not a good sign. Welp, evidently not all programmers are as efficient as you. Thank you for your undaunted commitment. An affectionate virtual handshake from your main supporter, however little it's worth. 😅

Shintocetra hit a milestone recently (Solitary Island) so don't worry, it's still ongoing.

I may be efficient, but it's because I always tackle small games (unless I'm script-porting). The script for DK IV is something like 300 times bigger than Policewoman VX :D Nevertheless, thanks for your continuous support, it's appreciated ;)

First off, @BabaJeanmel, thank you for clarifying that the Dragon Knight 4 project is still ongoing. I actually have an account here, so I figured I would chime in. @Nikokaro Saying my work is "stagnating" really isn't helpful at all. DK4 has 56,533 LINES of dialogue. A "line" can range from "..." to a 2-sentence soliloquy about sex in one of the ero-scenes. The script is huge. Not YU-NO level huge, but still huge in it's own right. It's gonna take awhile, and I cannot give an estimated date of completion at this time. I am the only translator, and have several other things going on irl (classes, cosplay, etc). PS: I've asked across Discord, and RDHN, but if anyone wants to join the DK4 translation, I'd welcome the help! I am looking for linguistic help only, I am fine on hacking with BabaJeanmel's help and Tomyun's tools, and I do my own proofreading/editing. Edit: for up-to-date percentage increases, see my translations's vndb page. I can't link it due to this site's anti-spam filters, but just search for "vndb", go there, search "Dragon Knight 4", go to the only english translation.

Oooh..😲 Hi and welcome. It's an honor to "meet" you. Yeah, that was one of my teases (provocations or similar), nothing more. I already knew that that game contains a lot of dialogue: it is no coincidence that among connoisseurs it is considered a memorable gigantic masterpiece, like Yu-No. And if you were to finally complete it, well you will surely have the gratitude of many PC-98 fanatics and your name will be remembered in the history books 🧐
.................. or almost. 🤭

That's great to hear! It's awesome to have a thread for PC-98 translation patches. For anyone interested in Dragon Slayer VI: The Legend of Heroes by NLeSeul, having direct links is super helpful. I’m curious about other released translations and the WIP projects. Any other notable translations you've come across recently?

This Dragon Slayer spinoff spawned a long-running, still ongoing series of very nice classic J-RPGS. The PC Engine version of this one was localized, but pretty much butchered. If you plan to play the series, you should start by the original Pc-98 version instead! The author is planning to do the second game as well, while the next three games are being worked on by Geofront (Windows versions only, sadly)

Hi there! Just wanted to clarify that the original Dragon Slayer VI: The Legend of Heroes was for PC-88, and the PC-98 is a port.
And thanks for the thread! I'll be around checking new translations :D

HI @BabaJeanmel , I recently read online that someone was trying to hack/crack the text compression of Eve Burst Error for PC-98, to back-port the english translation available for Windows to the latter. Do you have any news about it? Has anyone succeeded in this meritorious feat?

Then I wanted to ask you if there is a version of  Divi-Dead for PC-98; as for me, I couldn't find it anywhere, and no one mentions it. Almost certain it doesn't exist. 🤔

For "Eve", the toolset is the same as for "Amy", "Love Potion" and "Fatal Relations". It's available and public so the compression isn't really an issue. The problem is the size limit of the scripts (we haven't got full script decompilation yet, and some might hit the limit if no cuts are made) and most of all, that all H-scenes remain untranslated. And I'm not even mentioning how bad the existing English "Eve" script is.

I recall there are some scene people that were considering it (more as a re-translation project than just a script port, actually), but I can't say for sure if it's currently being actively worked on.

As for "Divi-Dead", Windows (and Dreamcast) only, sorry :)

At one point, JackDBS and I were considering doing a partial script port of EVE burst Error to PC-98: removing every Clinton (and related people from that administration) joke, and translating the ero scenes from scratch, keeping the rest of the script as-is. This was going to be a placeholder translation until someone did a full retranslation, if ever. That said, the original Windows EVE script is stored in a massive .DAT file, and text could not be extracted, he contacted the Asenheim project admin for assistance, but never heard back. So there is no planned EVE translation/script port being worked on now, unless it is something that hasn't been made public, or that I'm not aware of.

For "Amy" I just played both Japanese and English version at the same time on Asenheim using the "log" option, then copy-pasted what I got. As far as I know, the tools we have don't allow to insert new lines so it must be one English line per Japanese line. That limitation can be tricky (plus there's a size limit).
Fortunately, "Amy" was perfectly similar structure-wise. I doubt it's the case for "Eve" (plus the script is several times bigger). So trimming up dialogue, fit it inside the structure, rephrasing stuff to stay in the size limits, etc... would be a big, big hassle for an unsatisfactory result.
I unironically think a complete retranslation would be less tedious. Probably way longer, but certainly more satisfying.

I would love to see the Hamlet translation completed. Any idea where to find it to monitor progress? I tried googling Hamlet PC-9801 English Patch and this thread is all that came up.

Can't really speak for Alpharobo, but I don't think it's being worked on ATM. If I have news about it, I'll post them here.
