how do they make money?

i read somewhere they charge for currency conversion, or something.
but what fees are there that i don't know about?

I think you have to pay for a seller's account (premium?). And yeah, they'd make a lot of money through currency conversion.

When you receive money, they usually charge a fee. Sending money is free though.

There is a 5% difference either way on the current exchange rate, plus their fees that apply in some cases.

A paypal account is free. If you want to take credit card transactions though you need a business account. Paypal charge the seller so much for getting the money and if the moneys under £50 they charge you for transfering it to your bank account. Some people find paypal fees so expensive they don't use it. Ebay who own paypal make a fortune through the auctions then even more on the payment.

They take fees from you if you get money. But it is the fastest way to send money all over the world.
