So, I got this email, regarding a very popular video on my YouTube channel about that happy baby fox running around? Somehow, I got a ridiculous number of views, and today, I received an email with the following text:

My name is (name redacted) and I'm a Content Analyst at Network of One, a YouTube licensing company that discovers, verifies, and manages the world’s leading content. I was the one who reached out to you via Youtube.


Our research team came across some videos on your channel, and would love to offer you $550.00 USD for the following video:


Happy baby fox running around!


In exchange of the payment, we'd like to run our approved Google advertisements on the selected videos. The ads are a mixture of skippable ads to transparent ads that appear in the lower 20% of a video. Moreover, your channel will remain independent and the agreement would not affect the other videos on your channel, or any future uploads you may have.

Is this legit, should I follow up? I could definitely use the extra money and all that, but I don't want something horrific to happen. Advice? I thought it was a joke too, but it might be legit, I don't know.

Yeah, I mean, I get that certain people get monetized for videos, and while that'd be nice (and impossible, my other videos don't get over 1 million views), so it seems fishy.

not only that, but their ads running on your video? They most likely are going to not pay you, and grab all the cash from their content.

i think it's legit but if they are offering you $550 for the video it's probably worth more than that. hasn't youtube been paying you for it?

Nope, this is the first time I've gotten an offer on this particular video, at least, I don't know how monetization works for things like this.

I get paid $6.59 (*.7 for partnership take, and then *.98 for paypal fees, so a total of $4.52074) for 6,264 views, so you might be able to use that ratio to determine how much the video is worth based on its number of views. just throwing something out there, this may or may not be relevent

Yeah, no idea why they approached now and not earlier, heck, yes, I did consider monetizing videos, but all others never get to that level.

And it's a shame that it is, but I guess that I was never meant to get any kind of monetizing on my videos, given very few reach more than 100 views. Heck, it's the reason why I've considered let's play videos, but even those don't do well.

Talk with google and monetize the video and we in gbatemp will probably keep giving views to it, watching through all the ads for the goodness of your pocket. No sarcasm.

I would give you a couple more views, that video is beautiful.
