If you've got a skill, you might as well try and profit from it. That's a mentality embraced by a number of Street Fighter experts, who are offering intimate knowledge of Capcom's fighting game in exchange for cold, hard cash.

Players such as Jason Wong, Mike Ross, Martin Phan and Ryan Gutierrez are offering paid lessons in the art of digital combat, but don't expect their skills to come cheap. Gutierrez's price is $40 an hour, while Wong will demand a princely rate of $50.

Nobody needs help with fighting games more than I do, but paying money to get better? That, I'm not too sure about. Any of our own readers feel their skills would benefit from some paid tutelage?

Does anybody want 3D Mario lessons for $60 an hour? Free cake included. [IMG]

    Ha, that's funny.

SoulSnatcher, since there is cake, I'll gladly pay $60 per hour! When and where?!

People actually believe Street Fighter involves skill? It's glorified button mashing.

    The cake is a lie!

i'll pay $1000 if they can teach a man with no hands how to play with his feet. obviously, most ofus don't have madskillz like pros or champs do, but paying for the faint hope i can be as good as those people from knowing "intimate knowledge" of the game is tosh, i think.

note: if intimate knowledge means that they know when to pause so you can see chun li's... uh, never mind [IMG]

I button mash while playing any kind of fighting game (Tekken, Street Fighter, BlazBlue etc), and I can still win. Paying for these kind of useless lessons? HA, I would rather spend the money on more constructive things.

Well, I can't really see anyone paying for them today, but I could definitely see it back in the arcade days. People had real tournaments - not just "fight the ai" or "button mash with friends".

Paying someone to teach you how to play street fighter just sounds wrong. Games are meant to be fun, when you start paying someone they lose that appeal.

What the fudge... really? That is one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard in gaming news.

How long before the game companies cut out the middlemen and just sell achievements?

I'd rather use that money to buy a game that I don't need lessons to be good at.

Note to the people: there is a cheaper thing called the following combined alltogether
    1) Read the Skills and how to execute them
    2) Visit gamefaqs frequently
    3) play a button smashing game where you need to smash a button 5 times within 3 secnds
    4) keep doing 3) until your finger are as good as Machine Robo can hit
    5) don't ragequit (i swear to god i will pop out of your television/screen/monitor if you do)
    6) act unexpecting to your own style
    7) if necessary rickroll
    8) if you pay 40/50/60$ i will track them down and loot the money and return it
    9) DON'T PAY 40/50/60$!!! EVER!!!
    10) Keep this in mind and you will soon end up in a king of street fighter (The End)

    there, money issue solved
