Hacking Pasta CFW - A CFW that allows unsigned CIA to be installed on Old and New 3DS! (required ninjhax)

Yeah, I am in sysnand via Pasta CFW and am curious. I know normally I'd use the Gateway card and the bigbluemenu.3ds to install the CIA in sysNAND mode but I was wondering how people without the Gateway were doing it (I have a Gateway so it's no big deal, I was just curious)

Don't kill me for asking this but how are people installing FBI or DevMenu on this without a Gateway card?

FBI can be run from Ninjhax after the signature check is disabled, and it'll install whatever happily at that point.
Installing it again as a CIA itself is just convenience.

Little update : I've fully (almost) rewritten the payload for (my own) ease of future additions (like more offsets and such). I'm curently implementing a system that will allow you to set a selected firmware to autoboot everytime you start the payload (basicly reading a cfg file at payload start and checking if there is a flag to auto-start or not, and what firmware to patch) (autoboot is 40-50% done, with a lot of testing ahead...).

It going along slowly from my end since i am fully in exams month (till mid-june) and i'm still learning a lot about C programmation thanks to this little project of mine (i'm reffering to the launcher, obviously). (what an interesting way to shift focus from all that exam studying )

Expect an update to the ninjhax version with autoboot and more offsets (if motezazer has time to find them) in the incomming days.

Sadly, not that I know of. CN (and technically Oot, but we have nothing to exploit that aside from GW) are the only public entry points on N3DS that I know of aside from MSET which can't be used initially anyway.

O3DS you might be able to install it with PBT but you still can't run it without the checks disabled, so you'd still need a way in if you updated.

Sure. With a Sky3DS or Sky3DS clones that has CN on it.

When (if?) the MSET exploit is ready we'll be able to start it from the Settings app -> Profile -> Nintendo DS Profile. It should be fricken sweet. It will mean that you can install it once and then ditch the Sky3DS altogether (after using once as an entry point, obviously).

Private devs are going to be butthurt for a while. But in time they'll realise that the rules have changed. In order to gain notoriety from here out, Its going to have to be about what you share, not what you have. The scene is growing. Finally after all these years.

I'm afraid you are sorely mistaken. If anything can be learned by the flaming of the KARL team, they have probably lost all interest in releasing anything at all now. Or atleast, even less incentive than they had before.

And what's more, they now have even more solid proof that the profile of for-piracy devs working on CFW are newbie 3ds devs (such as capito27, which, as he says, is still learning C "programmation") that just barely can code a 8-byte simple patch (for which the offsets were not found by himself even).

The conclusion that can be drawn here is that I do not foresee a very feature-filled Pasta CFW in the future..

Only time will tell. Oh, and let's not forget KEYS KEYS KEYS for 9.6+ New 3DS
