Im so happy with this release. Not so much for what it is (Im still content with my gateway atm.) But for what it has done to the social structure of the scene. Private devs are going to be butthurt for a while. But in time they'll realise that the rules have changed. In order to gain notoriety from here out, Its going to have to be about what you share, not what you have. The scene is growing. Finally after all these years.
I'm afraid you are sorely mistaken. If anything can be learned by the flaming of the KARL team, they have probably lost all interest in releasing anything at all now. Or atleast, even less incentive than they had before.
And what's more, they now have even more solid proof that the profile of for-piracy devs working on CFW are newbie 3ds devs (such as capito27, which, as he says, is still learning C "programmation") that just barely can code a 8-byte simple patch (for which the offsets were not found by himself even).
The conclusion that can be drawn here is that I do not foresee a very feature-filled Pasta CFW in the future..
Only time will tell. Oh, and let's not forget KEYS KEYS KEYS for 9.6+ New 3DS
