Problem is, I've never managed to get the ctr-client stage of that process to work, I've tried like 20 times - I always get "failed to connect".

So, to clarify - this temporary MSET version of Pasta is useless unless you already have DevMenu installed?

What is 9.2 firm version hex ?
I tried for fun to edit the file but it didn't work, I used values from 0x022E0000 firm version in brhama source but idk if this is 9.2 or not, and it dosn't work.
I replaced these values (original - replaced)

To convert that to hex, divide the version into 3 parts and convert each part to hex, adding a 00 at the end. I use calc.exe. So 0x022E0000 = 2.46-0 = 9.0.0. 9.0-9.2 use the same FIRM version (you can see by the list that there's no entry for 9.2, that's because FIRM didn't change)
Not sure what all that stuff you replaced was, it's definitely not FIRM versions, they all start with 02.

Are you sure you have corectly editing the run.bat on step 12 ?

Legit cia are useless if they are not match your region.

You can region change your emunand to play all eur legit cia through rx-tools.

This could be a very long process in your case, you may have to :

- backup your system nand (with the gateway launcher),
- downgrade to 4.2u
- set up a palantine cfw rednand
- region change this rednand by folowing this tuto : https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-region-change-tutorial-easy-way.386207/
- install your wanted eur legit cia
- convert this rednand into emunand
- restore your 9.0 nand backup (with the gateway launcher)
- set up rx-tools
- boot into rxMode and update your emunand to 9.7E

tada, just for one game.

Getting this MSET launcher working on 9.2 has me stumped. I've got all the changes made, and have confirmed I have MSET working properly by running the GW launcher successfully, but PASTA is still just crashing/force rebooting when I try to run it, decrypted or encrypted.

You don't need pasta 1.1 files, just the .dat

Try with this launcher with the gateway mset rop this time.

Cannot Smash Bros to load at all have try many many different version on EUR 3DS Old (9.2), tried US and EUR versions without and with latest 1.7 update and always "an error occurred" after 3ds logo on trying start. ALL games other than this has worked including the other newer games like majora's mask and others....

Try with another computer and or another internet connection.
