Have you upgraded to beta 2?

No, just create 2 text documents and rename it. Then, in data management, your 3ds must say that your database is corrupted and ask you to rebuild it.

Thank you very much for your assistance! I'm still unsure regarding the correct order of installing everything. Would it be possible perhaps to give me a installation order for all that I need? The install video obviously didn't mention ninjhax, FBI, big blue, db file creation, etc...LOL...

I have a 3DS XL with 8.1.0-19U firmware, and I am getting a black screen as well, even after using beta 2.

Downgrade to 4.X then upgrade to 9.2.0-20 with sysupdater by PBT CFW and try again.

use this one. it works for me on 8.1 O3DS ,mines not xl but i dont think it will make a difference

Too long to explain the process... But you don't need specific things to do that like cubic ninja or gateway for example.

Yes I think that upgrade to 9.2 should solve the prblm but prefere wait for a fix if you don't know what you are doing.

If you are 9.2 or under, you can downgrade to 4.x without any special equipment. (As long as you're using an old 3DS. It won't work on 2DS or N3DS)

When I boot Pasta CFW latest I get a quick flash of a black screen with white text then back to 3DS menu. I'm on 9.2.0.20. Any suggestions? I think that is supposed to happen.
It happened with mine, and everything worked well.
The Pasta CFW does not have a GUI after it starts I think.

That may be normal. Current version auto boots. Because it doesn't currently have emunand, you end up in sysnand instead. Try running Cubic Ninja again afterwords and starting something like FBI to install an unsigned CIA like homebrew. If it lets you install something like DevMenu/BigBlueMenu, then it worked and you are currently in a environment that lets you run unsigned stuff.

yes,it sounds like it worked to me,if you want to see the pasta menu screen hold L before you click on the CFW on the homebrew apps screen.

you may need to do the dbs trick to get your cias to install.goodluck!
