Sony's Playstation Blogcast has announced that PaRappa the Rapper 2 will be joining the list of PS2 games that are available on Playstation 4. The game will likely cost in the range of $9.99-14.99 like the previous backwards compatible titles, and will also feature trophy support.

Got my hopes up thinking it was a new Parappa the Rapper game but after reading the whole title it's just another PS2 remastered game (not Backwards Compatible since it's emulated and doesn't use PS2 discs to play) for PS4. Hm.

Neat! I don't have a PS4 but this game was pretty fun. Maybe they could bring back the MediEvil series too!

P.S. I love how you used the screenshot with Lammy in the background, Maybe they should bring back UmJammer Lammy too!

As far as I am aware there was never a MediEvil game released on the PS2.
Correct. They did however remaster the original game for PSP so if they improved upon that with the right analogue stick to control the camera it would definitely be worth buying.

Don't they release PS1 games anymore? Sorry for my ignorance, I don't have a PS4.

Resurrection. The only UMD game I bough for PSP.

If they ever announce MediEvil 3 I will definitely get a PS4.

They have them for ps3 and vita/tv, and continue to release them. But they don't have any for ps4. Because.....reasons.

They're releasing slightly updated ps2 classics on the ps4 (and calling it backward compatibility. because...reasons), though these are completely separate from ps2 classics on ps3. The ps2 classics on the ps3 are 1:1 to the original ps2 games. The ps2 classics on the ps4 have some upscaling and other tweaks, though I haven't looked into how much work has been done on all of them.

I think you can play ps1, ps2, and ps3 games on psnow though, but that's a bit of a different beast, if I'm not mistaken.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term

AI assisted game creation might become a thing
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
