Hi! I have an old SCPH-50004 (silver fat PAL) PS2 that currently has an unknown modchip. It was supposed to be a Crystal chip, according to the modder who installed it back in 2005, but its configuration/update discs won't boot, and its behavior matches what I've seen in the Messiah 2 documentation, so we should go from that.
The console launches imported PS1 games forced to PAL (48 black lines at the bottom, squished image, slowed down to 25/50 FPS). Is there any way to fix this? I've tried a boot disc that's supposed to be able to force PS1 video modes, but the aforementioned behavior still occurs even if I select NTSC.
This does not happen with imported PS2 games, so I believe the Messiah 2's optional hardware video fix wire is not soldered (it should not, my TV supports 60 Hz and I'm using an RGB cable).
Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if you've seen a previous thread from a couple of months ago that also mentioned this issue (but whose topic was something else entirely).
