Just wanted to see what people though about their R4 now that it has been out a bit and we have got to play with it, see some updates, etc. Do you feel like it's easy to use? Happy with features, etc. I'm pretty new to the whole mod scene as far as consoles so this is my first real purchase, experience in the area. So far I've had a pretty good experience with the product. Had one issue.
-Will add a new file to the micro sd and go to start it and get a white screen. Take the R4 out, the micro sd out, put the micro and the R4 back it, restart file, no problem.

I like that there is an option for moonshell but wish it was just a more general homebrew option.
Not trying to turn this into a what it should/feature add thread, but more of just a how has your opinion of the product, experience been since you have been using it.

The R4 DS is incredibly easy to use... just plug the microSD in, drag and drop ROMs and away you go. I'm pretty damn happy with mine and couldn't ask for a better product [IMG]

I have a g6 lite and an R4 now - I think R4 is best value for money:

+ it's cheaper; like $50 to $100 cheaper than G6 (bought mine with passcard for $120)
+ it's easier to use; no more patching and finding out you used the wrong settings
+ the memory is upgradable; after a while 512 MB feels limiting - especially with larger 100+ MB roms and movies anyone?
+ no fear of built-in flashcard memory breaking
+ with a good Dane-Elec / Toshiba / Kingston microsd card all games will load
+ homebrew runs more often/smoother than on my G6

    - no GBA support so far; but I have my G6 for that
    - no download play; but I'll only use multicard play anyway
    - dodgy springloader; but duct tape works and I've read on the R4 forums the springloader can be pushed out to have a simple usbreader-like loading system

had the r4 for 1 month and find it to be very user-friendly, i just need to drag n drop all my games and i still can use my supercard minisd to play gba games... However i'm still not use to playing mp3 on e r4 since i have a pmp myself... Moreover, the r4 is at a affordable price, highly recommended to those who prefer a simple and user friendly slot 1 card...

Let's just say I'm glad that that earthquake postponed the delivery of my Supercard DS and gave me enough time to cancel, get my money back, and order the R4.

Well it's a very flashcart, the only problem I have with it is the Spring and the R4 hardware, the DS sometimes thinks that I've removed the cartridge and the game freezes...

PS:I'm not saying its a bad flashcart.
PS2:It's the 2nd batch that I have no M3/R4 mod

Best purchase I ever made for the DS. Worth every penny. Combined with my SCminiSD, it makes my DSlite complete.

Got my DS Lite this past Christmas. Got the R4DS on January 3rd. No problems with anything since then. The day before the R4 came out, I was looking at Slot-2 solutions and almost ordered the M3 Perfect + Passcard 3. My mom, however, told me to wait until the next day. Good thing she did since that's exactly when the R4 came out.

I thought about that too, but isn't that the cart to where you have to constantly update with some type of list or something?

Ho ho. As soon as I post my satisfaction here, I get the funky 'R4 not recognized by DS' problem. It appeared while playing Lunar Knights. I'm beating on zombies and suddenly the game tells me I removed the card and to turn off the system. When booting up, the card was not recognized. I reinserted the microsd and the R4 back into the DS and haven't had the problem since then. Been doing a lot of Meteos lately. Good stuff.
