I'd say you should talk to a profesional, but since your're on house I'm not totally sure if you can do it. How good is your cardio training? Also resistance is extremly important.

I'm going to start to do a little excercise apart from school stuff and occasional sports game. Probably some skipping and jogging, since the resistance I have when I run is kinda low, and we do a lot of running at school so I want to like be able to run more than 2 km without feeling sore XD.

I think I heard that you need atleast 2 months to see semi permanent visible chages so keep at it and don't give up! (Something I tend to do, unfortunately lol).

Well done. I'm still without my cardio training... XD
I did buy a skipping rope though, didn't like it so I'll have to buy another one (don't buy plastic ones, even if people say they are good, they won't sit straight)
BUT I have stronger arms, yay! Been doing some training on my forearms, and general toning.

Edit: 900th post!

This week I've just started a swimming regime up with another mate (although it's still freezing

). Can't believe how out of shape I've gotten over winter, poor poor cardio.

Sigh. I suppose that since we're BOTH Canadians, I shall give you my humblest opinions on what your ass should do.

1) Diet.
Change your eating habits. No pop/soda, moderate junk food, eat lots of fruit, eat shit that's got fibre in it (no pun intended. also, it might sound like something for an old man to do, but seriously... not having waste in your system really makes you feel like you're in tip-top condition all the time). Don't obsess over it, but try to keep an eye on how many calories you're taking in every day.

2) Fitness.
Do what you can to work out, but I'll tell you now, unless you change how you eat (assuming you don't eat well already), it's not going to help that much. If you're feeding your body shit & expecting it to produce nice results, you'll find yourself working harder than you need to.
Change the habits, then start the regiment.
Depending on how you want to build your body, you might want to think of the various options you have... If you want a body like a "greek god", then start working out every single day, eat tons of food that'll bulk you up, cut the fat into muscle... Research bulking & cutting (assuming you want mass).
If you just want to tone up, slim down, and be "in shape", then I suggest a lot of cardio, or as much as you can, what with your asthma & all. Swimming is a great exercise, might I add.

3) SLEEP!
Get lots of it. Lots and lots and lots. 8-10 hours a day, or more. When you sleep, your body does all the good stuff that it needs to do. Also, it's not like sleeping is that hard to do if you've been working out, right?

4) Water.
Drink lots of it. 10-12 glasses a day. However, I don't really recommend drinking a lot more than that. It's one thing to be healthy, and another to be flooding your system with more water than it needs.

If you need/want any other tips, just send me a pm.

Watch very closely what you eat for several weeks. After that, just watch your portions and be very conscious of how much crap you eat (not three bowls of ice cream a day).

Begin a regular exercise regime. What I'm starting, since I'm WAY out of shape myself as well, is a mile jog in the morning, followed by some push-ups, sit-ups, and some basic weight lifting (curls and stuff). A little hard to get into the routine ... but try very hard to.

And yes, sleep and drinking LOTS of water really helps.

I didn't realize how out of shape I was until yesterday. I severely sprained my ankle Tues. night (doc says I "severely tore several ligaments"). So I'm on crutches, and I tried to walk a block on crutches. I couldn't make it to the corner. I had only just begun my routine when this happened (in fact, I injured the ankle while jogging, damn exercise). So here's to hoping I can get back into the routine in a few weeks when my ankle is healed.

My general physical fitness is a bit down right now as well (came out of a busted wrist: no climbing, no decent cycling, no skateboarding, no martial training and no swimming (aka the only physical activities I enjoy) coupled with final year exams pretty much meant it was games, study or sleep for the last few months).
I got a glorified stress ball and now my wrist is just about back on form, my heel (which I went and bruised jumping off a roof) is about back as well though: in short being less than top fitness wise is intensively aggravating, not least of all because stuff that I found easy beforehand is a struggle/requires intense concentration now.
The absolute worst though is my back: I had just about built up enough muscle and flexibility to sustain it but that went and now I risk throwing it out over the most trivial of things.

Good thing though: it is back to school for everyone, I am stuck in a backwards town so I can not get a job and it is getting a bit colder so I have nothing else to do.

Edit: as for water by all means drink plenty but remember to top up salts as well, lack of salt is not good.

Ever since I quit pot I've been strangely gaining weight over the last 2 years. Just got a set of weights the other day from cheap as chips for $20
wink.gif

I'm also going to get back into my jogging and swimming. maybe not competition level this time...it just pissed me off after a while so I'll do it with a mate for a while anyway.

I'll subscribe to this thread so I don't forget

My mates eat a ton of junkfood unfortunately but I've been turned off from all the ancient takeaway bags sitting around with moldy big macs slowly getting ranker and ranker. They waste so much money I sometimes feel like kicking them in the ball sack. I'd rather a home cooked meal anyday

edit: spelling, my dyslexia strikes once again

I recently did a huge change in my life, I've decided not to be the lazy fuck anymore.
Really, I was such a lazy pig it was ridicioulus.
If you have ever thought about starting to work out, I can really recommend it! To get anyone motivated:

Here are the results I got out of only changing few things in my life. I did: Eat a little better, use my bicycle
more and got slightly more active. Yes I know I was NOT anywhere close to overweight when I started. Results:

Start
Date: May 2006.
Height: 176cm
Weight: 70 kg

End
Date: September 1st 2007.
Height: 176cm
Weight: 57 kg

I did not starve myself, I actually ate alot of food and very regularly. Why was I so small then? I had absolutely
NO (0, zero, nada) muscles. Sure I liked the weight loss I had, but now I was too small.

I decided to start weight lifting and have more control of what I eat more. These where the changes that I was
going to make:

* Workout three times a week (different musclegroups every day).
* Eat with control, lots of protein.
* Sleep more, minimum 7-8 hours of sleep per day.

After just 6 weeks of training I'm lifting almost 50% more in every excersize then from when I started my body
building. I have to admitt it was a pain to get started, but after four weeks I really got into it. And when the results
was starting to show after just 5-6 weeks it gave a big boost forward. Most importantly I feel alot better!

I'm currently on week 7, and this week I'm starting with my suplements (protein shakes and weightgaining shake
(its basicly a protein shake with alot of carbohydrates)). Suplements also mean that getting enough energy and
protein is much easier.

Right now

Date: June 2007.
Height: 176cm
Weight: 59 kg

I've gained alot of muscles in just 6-7 weeks, and even lost more fat (it shows on my stomach). With my suplements
I'm beginning my bulking phase (gaining weight to build the muscles) and then around january I would start a
cutting phase (loosing the fat). This way I hope to look great by the summer
