Gaming other m style story telling for prime 4??

I was thinking about prime 4 while listening to this awesome remix and regrettibly other m came into my head and I shivered in fear if metroid prime 4 would be about samwuss arion shitting her metal panties seeing ridley dispite fighting him for years before the release of other m and then I thought of something that calmed me down....

what if nintendo did the game with cinematics with metroid 4 like they did with other m... but hold on... before you rant hear me out.... other m was good with the cinematics... just the excution of plot sucked ass and controls sucked even more ass than a paranah plant when peach was planting her garden...

just make samus arion like the badass bounty hunter we always imagined and expected to know and love... make her brave and a bit cocky when it comes to going into battles and defeating enemies...
pretend that metroid other m is another canon and has nothing to do with the prime series (if it doesn't already)

ideas for what could be in metroid prime 4

1. have motion controls for blasting/aiming be optional if anyone is actually used to other m's control scheme (seems very unlikely)

2. hd rumble for charge blasts would be awesome.

3. multiplayer modes similar to prime hunters on the original ds (sad that it didn't get ported to the n3ds)

4.unlock a mode to play the story as a different character in the metroid series (likely after beating the game or maybe winning 100 matches in a row in multiplayer)

5. amiibo functionality for different suits from other metroid games and a 3d pixlated look similar to pacman or donkey kong from pixles as an easter egg or 8bit amiibo feature would be badass

6. please for the mother of god nintendo, please... I beg you... make this game worth the hype of millions of fans that have been waiting for this since the after the release of metroid prime 3

I hope they take after the first Metroid Prime with storytelling elements. It was a great balance and nothing was too telling or in your face; you got an impression of what was going on just by observing the world around you and by getting some log entries here and there, and even those were snippets of something bigger. The log entries were so nice because they didn't feel like someone was dumping plot on you, because scanning computers, corpses, and creatures felt like gathering artifacts and pieces. Yeah, Prime 2 and 3 had the log entries, but there was plot plot plot all the damn time.

Bottom line, I don't want some general or commander barking orders at me, I'm Samus goddamn Aran. I want my orders on a cold, dead computer monitor so I can just zoom off through the dark vacuum of space and go to a deserted planet and be left alone to do my job. No dialogue creates creepy ambience, as evidenced by pretty much any notable Metroid title besides Prime 3 and Other M, and the best parts of the latter two games was when you were far away from Federation scrubs.

I'm curious who you would be interested in playing as. I can't think of a single Metroid character that is worth playing aside from Samus. Granted, it would be sorta cool if you played as the dead bounty hunter from Super Metroid, complete with alien weaponry, suit sounds, and junk (that is, if you don't assume he's a Federation soldier, which I don't).

Other M is textbook "this isn't how you write a story", so I couldn't agree more. I am hoping it follows prime story telling, as it did it right. A bit bare-bones, but That's kind of what they were going for (and nailed it for the most part).

Literally all the things you're not suppose to do to tell a good story, other M did. It looked pretty though.

I think Nintendo likely recognizes the backlash Other M received and so the gameplay and story telling of Prime 4 will be in line with the 3 Prime titles before it.

Out of curiosity, what did you like about it in particular? If I were to give it credit, it would be praising how it felt like the half-sister of Super Metroid and Fusion in terms of how the environment felt.

I think Samus' physical changes and characterization are what threw most people off, me included. In every other Metroid game, Samus is a towering presence, but in Other M she is like, 5'4" or some jazz. I can't really think of any other reason they did that than to make her more sexually appealing to western audiences. To be completely fair, the sexualization is literally a reward at the end of every game, so arguing that point may be moot. It might even be sexist to sit around arguing what a female character's body should look like; I mean, no one cares about Mario's crazy differences in height over the years.

Her characterization in Other M was an attempt to humanize her and show she has weaknesses or whatever, but I felt like it was lazy writing. I hoped her relationship with Adam would have been a little more complex than a faux daddy complex, especially considering she is not a typical human, and was raised by giant bird people for most of her youth. Samus would have the kind of outlook the Chozo did, which would match her stoicism and dedication to galactic equilibrium. Case in point, overdramatic teenage rebelliousness and her pouty tendencies in all of her flashbacks don't make sense to me.

But in all honesty, the worst parts of Other M were the controls. What killed the combat for me was the need to go into first person mode to shoot a missile in the middle of a fight. The game was playable after I used a homebrew code loader to make it possible to fire missiles in third person, but the game still failed to keep my attention for a number of other reasons.

Yeah, I think canon she's 6'3" or something like that. She's tall. This game really messes with metroid canon. Which most people don't care about, but it is a bit annoying on how much is changed, especially in the details.

I was thinking like playing as one of the space pirate bosses like you could when you played online/local multiplayer in prime hunters...
