Hey

Picked up a coupleof cheap OG Xboxes, I did the soft mod 1st then soldered the required pads to perform a Tsop mod. After lots of playing around I found the dvd drive won't read my burnt CD with Hexen on it. I know the disc works as I used it a week ago on a different soft modded 1.6 rev. Any idea on how to install a custom Bios with the dvd drive only readin offical dvd games?

Certain drives do not like reading certain types of media (CD-R, DVD-R, etc).

https://consolemods.org/wiki/Xbox:DVDROM

Just pull the disc drive from an Xbox you know the disc works on and use that as a workaround.

Or burn the disc onto a DVD-R.

So the new DVD-R solved getting the dvd drive to read the burnt disk and I installed the new Bios. Now no matter what ide to sata adapter I use (tried 3) or 80 pin cables i get error 9. I load the Hexen disk in the dvd drive turn it off then back on just error 9. I erased the original 10gb drive and hexen runs and install the original drive as a new drive. I tried 3 sata drives and none can get passed error 9. The last tsop mod I did as soon as I plugged in the new sata drive hexen would load and say new drive detected and it all worked. I used the exact same 2tb drive as the one i did a few weeks ago. Could this be a bios issue?

Thanks

Depends on the IDE SATA adapter and your disc drive.

Which adapter are you using? Generic green adapter? Or StarTech?

If it's a StarTech and you have a Samsung disc drive, that could be the problem. They tend to not play nice with each other.

Also, which BIOS are you using? EvoX or Cerbios? (You should really be using Cerbios.)

The IDE to sata is a generic one I used before. I tried a Thompson and 2 Toshiba dvd drives. Used Evox M8 plus

Bought a StarTech adapter worked right away. The Green generic ones I bought for the 1st couple I did must have been luck, I hope they don't die on my buddies.
