    Hello,

I am new to the DS flash card market, and I decided on buying an R4 because I want a cheap and reliable card to do the basics (play DS games on the DS phat and lite and perhaps NES, SNES, and GBC emulation -- I really don't care for mp3 player functionality, web browsers, and all that). The problem is that there are so many fakes (apparently even some fakes that look like the original) that I am getting a bit paranoid.

I just want to triple check that the following R4:
    http://www.dsflashcart.com/r4ds-original-flashcart-for-your-ds-lite-p-269.html

is indeed a true original that supports the true wood firmware (not sure if "knockoff" wood firmwares exist, but who knows).

imo, the site seems to be legitimate since they are an official reseller of other well supported cards described here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/which-flash-cart-should-i-get.290097/ but I would like the opinion of someone else more experienced.

There is another thread that links to what seems to be an identical product (which was confirmed to be good) at a different retailer at a slightly higher price: http://gbatemp.net/threads/reliable-r4-seller.346610/#post-4617811

Only thing that concerns me is that there are options for 4GB+ micro sd cards -- which is weird since the R4 is supposed to only support 2GB micro sd cards at a maximum.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Yeah that looks original. NES and GB/C emulation on the DS is fine, but SNES emulation sucks, you might not even want to bother.

The site likely lists 4GB+ MicroSD cards because they might only carry one or two carts that don't support SDHC by now and just didn't bother editing the list to take that into account... but don't get your MicroSDs from import shops, you should get one from a store that's not just going to toss a cheap/fake in the bag.

If you're wanting to buy an original R4 that's the real deal at the cheapest price($3.80 w/o box or $4.10 with) then buy it from http://www.zhuzhuchina.com/store/r4...ompatible_with_wood_with_usb_card_reader.html I, as well as dozens of others, can say that zhuzhuchina is the best place to buy from.

If you want to go a little more and get a device that works not only on the original DS but the 3DS and supports SDHC then go for the r4i gold($10.25)
    http://www.zhuzhuchina.com/store/pr..._5_compatible_wood_rev_c_rts_max_1_piece.html

I'd highly recommend buying the r4i gold over the original r4 just for the sdhc support. Besides that the two chips will look virtually the same with the Wood R4 menu.

if you want Snes Emulation the only card that does it well is the DSTwo, no other card can

Original R4's are fine but have a lot of limitations

i would recommend what Vanth said above
