Trust me, I've been Torrenting, Downloading, Pirating for years.

Steam has always downloaded on average slower than most download managers.

Both Origin and Jdownloader, and even some torrents are way faster than Steam on an average day

It's ridiculous, if I want to use the disk version of Mass Effect 2 I have to have disk 1 inserted at all times when I run the game, however if I just download it instead through Origin instead of installing from disk then there's none of this shitty DRM, it's a piss take.

so...uh...now they call it a success huh.... yeah right i agree they succeeded in mind fucking its customers.
Oh yeah, let me tell you, A company trying to make money.

Welcome to 2012.

If they really wanted money, they would release their newer games on Steam, instead of making a laughable facsimile and forcing customers to use their horrible client to buy "X new game".

The word facsimile denotes some amount of accuracy or success in their copying of Steam... I think the word you're looking for is "pieceofshit".

Except if you knew anything, You would know that steam doesn't support first party DLC

What's "first-party" DLC, and how does it differ from normal DLC?

Game updates? Terraria used to update all the time for free.
Paid updates? There's plenty of paid DLC on steam.

So I don't think this is nearly obvious enough to be a "if you knew anything" situation...

First Party DLC is when the company sells it directly from there source, Steam does not allow that.

That is why Games for windows live games can be launched without steam.
Get your facts straight if you're going to argue. Valve does allow companies to sell DLCs in-game directly, but they also require it to be possible to buy said DLC through Steam.

So? Why would I want to buy DLC for a game that I bought on Steam directly from the developer? What if it doesn't reward Steam achievements? Also, EA's bitching was all because Valve was charging them 50k to do game updates and they think that's unfair, but hey, data hosting aint free kids. The developer sets the price on DLC, they can increase it if they want more profit due to Valve taking a cut for hosting the data, it's really not that hard.

So why is EA the bad guy, Valve is trying to make money too.

Everyone is just riding the anti EA train, people need to get over themselves.

I like Video games, EA stamp or not.

DeMartini must be fooling himself if he thinks customers are satisfied and actually like Origin. With memory leaks, constant bugs and resource hogging, Origin is one of the least user friendly programs out there, and it's a forced service that people only use in a disgruntled manner becase we are forced to use it if we want to play Mass Effect 3, Need for Speed or Battlefield 3. One can make the argument that Valve did the same thing with Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2, however Steam offers a program that runs smoothly and uses minimal resources and they offer game sales, something EA believes devalues the game product so they will never have them.

Yes, because Steam was 100% working on everything and had absolutely no bugs or anything on day one right?

In my honest opinion, I agree with you on the fact that people are using it because they feel forced, but I disagree with the "memory leaks, bugs, hogging" aspect -- Steam in that respect is a steaming pile of horseshit and has been ever since it's been released. Back then, we thought "oh well, our computers just aren't handling the awesome." No. Now they clearly can. It's just like iTunes -- runs like garbage.

The reason we aren't switching is because we have 100+ games on STEAM, not on Origin. The deals are also better. The business aspect of STEAM is definitely the best -- but technically, I think they should rebuild their program.
You're kidding right? Steam runs like a whistle on my system and has never crashed nor "hogged system resources".

List your OS, build and post how much resources you are using. The problem you're facing might be coming from you

I like how this post of yours did nothing to actually address the counter provided to your claim of "no first-party DLC". Wait, no I don't.

I've got Half-Life on steam and have three total conversion packs installed (Life's End, Case Closed, and They Hunger), which show up as their own entries in the game list, and the steam overlay shows up in them, so it's perfectly possible to mod in content that didn't come from steam into steam-bought games. One of the mods even did it for me with a simple installer package, so I see no reason a dev of the actual game wouldn't be able to do the same.

In addition, I have Borderlands on steam, and it's modded as well with additional map packs (The Oasis and the DLC Fast-Travel Hub), so as far as modifying the original game files to add content (opposed to making a new entry in the list), that's possible too.

A reason Steam is often chosen, though, is because it makes the process easier for end users and eases the burden of developers (as smaller ones may not want to set up their own distribution/sales methods for DLC). Companies like EA that already stand strong on their own should have no problem with their own distribution, which is why they're trying to make their own platform (so THEY get the sales cuts, not Valve).

As for servers. Origin and steam hits my download cap within seconds. Never once have they not downloaded under 100Kb/s under the cap. Just over lol. Until they fix many issues with origin, i still say steam>origin. I will however use both until it requires me to uninstall either of them.
