It looks like it may be the type of RPG I played way back in the C64 days. I'm looking forward to it.

The _TYPE_ of RPG.

Start reading. And thinking. And in the end, you might not come out so stupid.

Oh, and it looks awesome

look who's calling someone stupid! better think before writing that out!

Anyway...what is suffice to be "kind of" RPG? If there are any tolkien based monster in it? If you have to fight with swords? ...

I think I played most RPG that came out on the C64, so my question really was going to find out what game Rayder wanted to know.
But as you are so smart, you probably know the game, right?
Speaking of old RPG on C64...I'd love anyone making Wasteland revieve in current systems :-) (well...I know about fallout...but it something different)
Wasteland - the best RPG ever!

Looking forward to it myself, especially after spending so much time on the mobile game last year. Its more akin to the PC RPGs in the 386/486 EGA/VGA days and apparently id software originally intended Quake to be like this.

Seems id/Fountainhead have had a lot of fun with the DS hardware and if its a success they want to port Doom RPG, which was also awesome. A little bored with all these Japanese RPG's lately so its nice to have something that harks back to the old days...as long as it doesn't bore me silly like Etrian did.

No Super Mario is best RPG ever! j/k

Anyways on topic. Bard's Tale, Wizardry, Might & Magic, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder. All great game series.

My absolute favourite is Dungeon Master 2 with the thieves which steal items right outta your hands and puts it in their secret stash. Probably the funniest game moment of all time. When u follow them to their secret stash they just keep looting items from your inventory. ->turn around->put down item->loot again
if no stuff in inventory, start attacking with knife

Oh and the fact a giant hand flows over the screen and he says "MINE!" makes it even more silly.
The best way to kill enemies was to lure them great distances in large areas while tossing items at them. Cause enemies are much slower than u. Or you could use the good old push button to close giant stone door in the head of the enemy.

I love Might & Magic 7, Wizardry 10.

Looking forward to Orcs and Elves. It reminds of me of a game I really like called Stone Keep for the PC. I bought the game cause of the box, luckily the game was also good. Hard as hell tho
wink.gif
A great moment from that game is the orc-ish shaman u meet in some Dwarven mines which walks up to you and says: "PAY ATTENTION TO ME" in a rather silly way. I'm much for these silly things in games

Creators of Dungeon Master and Stone Keep I bow before thee in awe.

yes, stonekeep, I remember those goblins singing songs...that was one of the funniest things ever. ("I wish I was a dwarf...)
never made it run on newer computer again...lucky me, I solved it back on my first PC. ;-)

come on, the SSI games were not really 3d...
Althoug....remember what I said about loving somebody to make Wasteland available?
Same goes for all the old SSI games...Those on my DS or on the Wii would be so cool.
Maybe there is some way to do this like ScummVM does for Lucasfilm games.

What's wrong with what he wrote?

I was responding to BigX's:

QUOTE
there was a 3d RPG on the C64? I can't remember any.

And bigx. He was talking about DUNGEON CRAWLERS. Not about 3D-RPGs.

I played it on my cellphone. It was ok, kinda run-of-the-mill, storywise, but the graphics were very nice...for a cellphone, I mean.

And the dungeon crawl aspect was a nice nostalgic punch to the gut.

thank you Yugge!
actually I come from a time, when you needn't to differentiate between Dungeoncrawlers, 3d RPGs and stuff.
The RPG genre was quite lone back then.
Thankfully it changed now and there is a mass of games available.
I am looking forward to give this a try. (I am still struggling with Zelda - PH)

  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Like, Urusei Yatsura, I love the manga and the original anime.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
In the original rumiko takahashi works, nudity was common
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i still havent read the manga. also surprisinly i like both the new and the old anime adaption.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Lum being topless and Ranma always topless when turning female wasn't sexual
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
also the old anime adaption of Urusei Yatsura had more fanservice than the manga
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
That's one of the issues I have with ecchi stuff recently, it focuses too much on the sexual aspect, not the comedy effect.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
The manga had it's fair share.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I mean, Lum was supposed to be a one time character
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
ecchi anime focusing too much at fanservice was always a thing
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Rumiko Takahashi got so much fan email about the character that she brought her back in the manga, it was going to be completely different originally (with the alien of the week type).
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
also i m a takahashi fan and i love ranma
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
There are different ways of fanservice
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
the first manga I bought, was Psychic Academy, when I was like 12?
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    That was good 2000s ecchi
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    Great plot too
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
psychic academy. lol. it was meh even back then when i bought volume 1. also same author also made one of the manga adaptions of Escaflowne.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    Pfffft!
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    I have all the volumes.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
    btw do u have discord?
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
last tv anime i remember with nipples i personally watched was Senran Kagura
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    yeah I do
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I mostly read, haven't watched much, but I do keep my cunchyroll sub.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Found out one of my fave animes got an adaptation this season
