MS is looking for more beta testers for their dashboard update. If you're interested, get in quick as I'm sure it'll be closing down soon...

    https://connect.micr...=PB22-KHW2-Y2K3

    The update includes:
    • Internet Explorer for Xbox
    • Recommendations and ratings
    • Pinning and favorites
    • Enhanced category search and discovery features
    • Voice search (in specified markets)

    edit:
Registration is open. Keys for input on your xbox's "Redeem Code" section should be available shortly. I'm guessing they're holding them to keep from crashing the site again while everyone is registering...

I'm holding off on this update.

I'm sure MS will have implemented DVD checks for CFW and another bootloader upgrade.

This update is weird... Faster.. But so inconvenient. Also, dinoh. Check around. I've read that this update doesn't affect things like that.

You can't know that for sure.

It might do nothing to the drives at this moment.
It also might not even touch the bootloaders but you'll never know.

    MS isn't stupid.

I'm curious about the "inconvenience" of this update. what has been made inconvenient?

Awesome. Got in pretty fast. I haven't flashed my console so I don't really care. This is the one system I wanna keep clean.

idk why I am, but it's probably because I'm too lazy to get any chips for it.

It's just my opinion. The pin feature is kind of pointless. It takes you to another screen.. I find it more habitual to just go to the correct icon and launch from there. If they were to allow you to actually pin certain apps to the home screen, that would be better. Not to mention I've always had a distaste for the dashboards after they've gotten rid of the blades.

    Yes MS isn't stupid.

They've done their homework pretty well with the software hacks on the old Xbox.

The only hacks that allowed unsigned code on the 360 are the KK exploit (requires a hacked DVD Drive)
jTAG (which requires hardware) and the RGH (which also requires hardware)

It's designed from a software point of view.
(Hardware wise is a different story since the hardware itself is ~7 years old)

    Anyways.
    Knowing MS.
This update also brings another update to the security.
    I'm pretty sure of it.
