Yeah, for people that like to voice chat with strangers that sucks. For me, its a god-send. I'm aware you can silence people you don't know on other systems, but that's often a hassle. I think I stopped using voice chat with strangers over 5 years ago, when most of them settled into insulting your mother, and then you have the little kids screaming in your ear. It'd be nice to have the option for those that want it, but voice chat with strangers hasn't been for me for a long time.
It's still bullshit. How can you even play competitive and you're paying monthly and you can't even talk to strangers ? How the fuck are you going to meet people online when most people i game with once were complete strangers. Censoring for the 3th generation in a row !
Nintendo thinks everybody is a little kid that needs to be censored at all times !

You can friend anyone you team up with though, I do it all the time in Pokemon. Its pretty much no different than being able to chat with everyone and then one by one muting those you don't want to listen to, but just the other way around, only adding people that you want to talk to.

Called it. Fully expected such cheap pricing. Hopefully this will shut up the whiners.
Whiners? The "free" games are only rentals for a month and out of the sudden Nintendo's going to be charging to play online so you can't say people don't have valid reasons to criticise Nintendo on this matter. Then there's the other issue if the voice-chat will be done through a smartphone or via the Switch itself.

Nintendo fanboys don't like when Ninty's criticised. lol

More then 90 percent of the community doesn't do it that way. And if you're going to pay monthly each month and you're not even getting some options is a scam. You should have the freedom to talk to complete strangers instead of censoring everybody treating everyone as little kids

Well if they're going to play the Switch they'll have to do it that way or not voice chat with strangers. Like I said this issue is lost on me, sorry it disappoints people like you. I'm actually a fan of this method.

Then they should have implemented a parental control function that disabled voice chatting to strangers. But they should atleast have kept the option open for people that do want that wich is the majority of the gaming audience.

I'm sure that would please people like you. Again, its an issue that I just don't care about, so complaining about it to me is probably a waste of your time.

seriously, this online service will totally end with the switch

It won't.

This line of thinking went on with all the consoles. Paid online won't go over well, user won't pay etc.

When it actually came down to it, making a stand or paying up, people couldn't drop their pants fast enough.

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and nvidia is already doing ARM
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think Nvidia s future lays in AI GPU acceleration stuff if they can get that going it's going to be super interesting in the long term
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
AI assisted game creation might become a thing

At least that's something I think would be pretty cool.

Many TBs of assets and the programming of something like that is going to be tough but I think it's something we might see in 20 years maybe sooner
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
before that there was one to generate a fully modeled scene from a 2D image
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and using LLMs to generate NPC dialogue and even dynamically generated quests is something i'm sure is already happening
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
will just take some time for games made using those things to be completed and released
