One Piece Pirate Musou gave PlayStation 3 one of its biggest software debuts yet this past week as it topped the charts with 655,774 units sold. This was more than the rest of the Media Create top 20 combined.

The game also caused a surge in PlayStation 3 sales. The system nearly tripled last week's sales figure to 65,116 units, and almost beat the mighty 3DS for the top spot. One Piece was given a PS3 hardware bundle, but it's unclear how many of these were available.

Other debuts in the top 20 included Mario & Sonic at London Olympics, Great Battle Full Blast, Doraemon: Nobita and the Island of Miracles and UFC Undisputed 3.

Duh, it's One Piece. That thing shifts millions of tankobon every year in Japan, pretty much more than every other in-serialisation Shonen put together. That its game would sell so well is a no brainer. The Japanese love One Piece more than anything.
