I know, it's just a dumb anime game and next to no one here will care much about it, but some of us have waited a long time for it and I'm pretty damn excited to finally play it in English:

The game should be shipping out tomorrow (July 22nd), so hopefully we'll see a scene release within the next few days. From what I've played of the Japanese version, it's a fairly standard 2D brawler with some nice One Piece fan service and a decent amount of content. Most criticism of the game comes from lack of online mode and part of the Straw hats being unplayable (Namely Robin, Brook, and Franky) but other than that it's gotten fairly positive reception. If you aren't a One Piece fan, your enjoyment of this game will probably be limited.

I'm really excited. I loved the Japanese version of GB and just finished the first volume of the Paramount War arc in the manga, I hope it doesn't spoil too much because the next volume comes out in October.

WHY would they not include online? They saw how successful Jump was (people still play online today) I dunno what they were thinking.

Either way... Sweet.

I've been looking forward to this English release for a while (at least since I found out that they were not releasing it the same time as the French and German)

I've only been following the anime, but I still love any game that One Piece has.

terrible game...
way too much support crap going on, you need to level all your chars and you keep getting them at L1
controls are bad, you dont see enough of the map in "get most of this item" quests, while the npcs know where an item is about to drop, always.

adding to that the frustration of taking off 99% HP of everything and having npcs or the background of the map cashing in your kills.
in my eyes, this had huge potential, but it just has way to many flaws to be really enjoyable

If that stuff makes for a terrible game to you, I'd hate to see the games you like.

once you realize that you have to keep doing the first missions over and over (while getting less exp cause you most likely already cleared all the missions), getting everyone at level 1 is terrible.
most likely, once you realize that it takes between 5 and 10 battles (without mission bonus exp) to gain one level, you run to the internet, seach for that one grinding battle there is and repeat that thousands of times... its like in dissidia where you grind on exdeaths terrible AI)

the supporters all activate through TS, and usually have 2 modes of attack to choose from, which is much worse than what they did in jump superstars, at least there it was just tapping once. in these battles, where it isnt even rare to end up being a punchingbag and lieing on the floor for 10-15 seconds at times, activating those is just a pain.
supporters like this (they just appear and do some small attack) are just a way to say like "over 100 one piece characters playable", when in reality, you only get about 20 of them to actually control and walk around with
really, its not that good.

id say the last one piece game, the one with the bad 3D chars, was much more enjoyable than this.

Well you can always switch to Imagine games if you are not enjoying this game. Haters gonna hate anyway.

So looking forward to playing this in English. Happy to buy a copy if it arrives here.

It does. There are screenshots. Maybe the release date got pushed back and they forgot to tell the public.

I just wish a rep would say something about it. It feels like the game was canned and they forgot to tell us. It's bad ethics for a company.

Nah, I think Gigant Battle is better than JUS/JSS gameplay-wise, and the Story mode's better imo, too. And seriously, if you need to grind, that probably means you're just not that good. This game isn't that heavy on RPG elements, and levels aren't required. I just think you aren't into fighting games, especially after what you said about Dissidia.

Yeah. It is just plain lazy. Canning the English version would not make much though. A German and French version were released.
