I've looked through some of the posts here, and am now on the verge of buying a gateway, my xl is on 4.5 so that's no biggie, just a couple of questions?:

Am i right in thinking multirom is now supported?
    Also real time saves?
Can i transfer the eshop games i have (Prof layton, mario 3ds) to the Gateway?
Where is the best place to start once i have the card? i don;t want to mess anything up!
Are there any actual alternatives to the gateway that do the same things?

Sorry if these questions have been asked before!

    many thanks!

    Yes
    No
    Yes
Follow the guides out there to the letter... check the tutorial section
Yes, Mt-Card, but multi-rom is supported by pressing a button on the cartridge instead of using the 3ds menu.

    No Problem!

    1. Yes multi-rom is supported
    2. Real time saving as in how it would save on a retail cart? Yes. If you mean save-states like Ds flashcarts then no.
    3. Yes
    4. This video will explain everything about gateway from its inception until 2.0b1. After that, look on this forum for Omega 2.1 tutorials.
    5. The Mt-card is the only other real alternative. R4i gold deluxe and 3DSLink are both clones that arent reliable, and will brick your console.

    1. MultiROM is supported and works great.
    2. Real time saves does not mean save states (I'm just mentioning that because there has been confusion about that.) It does mean that you no longer have to press home and then X to have it write the save file. Now there have been issues of not saving if the game freezes or the cart is ejected before closing, but for the most part it does work fine.
    3. The only way to do that would be to perform a system transfer between your current system and then to your emuNAND.
    4. For buying, use one of their official retailers. For support, check out the forum here as there are topics about that.
    5. The only alternative is the MT Card.

The MT card looks to be the same price? I'm prolly better off sticking with the GW :)

Just to clarify the eShop are still stored on you NAND/3DS SD card (not to be confused with the Gateway's mSD card). They are transferred to the Gateway card. You can run eShop games that are dumped by scene groups that are stored in .3DS format (no public way of dumping them yet) on the Gateway.

Yes and no. You can run them both, but only one at a time.

Thats what i meant, so if i wanted to play my eshop games without the hassle i can just go back to the stock nand to play them?

I have reread your first post. As long as I read your it correctly and you have these games already installed on a firmware 4.5 3DS, then you could just play them like you normally would.

I think so. When you create the emuNAND partition, it will copy the right to play them as well. You'll just save the step of having run the exploit.

I believe so, but I'm by means no expert. I'm probably a little braver than most, because I have the tools to unbrick a 3DS.

I'm not an expert either, but I don't think that there has been a confirmed random brick on Omega. From what I've read, the brick code is still in there, but it is much more stable has to pass several triggers in order to implement it. Again, I'm not an expert, but that is what I've read.
