Might get that done, is it risky and difficult for an almost complete beginner?

Depends on a few things. First, what type of console is it? Original 3ds's are a little more of a headache than 3ds xl's...secondly, what's your comfort with a soldering iron? if it's an xl, even if you're pretty much a beginner at soldering, it should be pretty easy, if it's an original 3ds, it might be better to find someone else to do it for you, if you're not comfortable with a soldering iron. Risk for this really depends on where you stand with soldering, and with the original 3ds, if you're capable of ripping apart the system without destroying the cart slot or not.

3DSXL, ive used a soldering iron a handful of times, so i know how to use one, and tinning method and all that, Im looking through the stickies atm, found this thread
http://gbatemp.net/threads/nand-flash-dump-3ds-xl.350668/page-89
But its still confusing, is this the post comprehensive thread on 3dsXL hardmodding?

Also with the female to male adapter, you do you have to use that? Cant you solder the wires directly onto an SD card adapter, i dont really want to make any holes in my case, or even have the wires present in the case after ive flashed it

If you've had any soldering experience at all and your messing with an o3dsXL it should be relatively easy.
normal o3ds is a pain in the butt. dunno bout 2ds.
you can send it to someone to have it done if you don't trust yourself, only - I don't know of anyone in Australia that does it.
might take a look here:

I imagine you could forego the adapter, but the idea is that once you have this done you probably wouldn't want to go through the motions to do it again if you ever need it again. But sure you could just desolder once done.

Well, once it's set up and done, it opens the world of messing around with SysNAND rather recklessly and restoring at will....

The thing im most concerned about is creating the port, i dont want to wreck the actual case (Yoshi special edition), is there a simpler way i could have a permanent install, without having to cut into my case?
Ah, with the oXL can't you just take out one of the wrist strap things? As in they just sorta pop right out and you could put it back if you ever wanted to sell it or something? I'm pretty sure if you use the micro-usb port it should fit.

How original.
Yeah, it's rare for someone to end up on my ignore list after only one post, so congrats to him for that.

A person's first post sets the standard for all future contributions. In

In his case, nothing intelligent to contribute to the conversation, and therefore nothing of value lost.

Yeah, ozmodchips definitely don't do them, or they didn't a week ago anyhow.

This was their response to an enquiry about it last week
Well ozmodchips replied to my message..

they dont need to be installed they plug into the slot!!
:nayps3:
I'll try again and be more specific
A pretty unprofessional response if you ask me.

After genericuser provided further clarification as to what he wanted, the reply he received back was "hi there not at the moment".

Get in contact with Shadowtrance, he's based in Queensland and is more than capable of hard modding an old3DS XL.

Yeah I'd have thought that OMC would do them seeing as they offer unbricking, and it's not like it takes long to do especially on the old XL.

But yeah contact me if you want EmceeKerser and see if we can work something out. :)

I got a new soldering iron that needs some work (Hakko FX-888D), and some more parts and other bits n pieces coming in so do it for someone else. :)

Gateway is NOT people. They are Ancient Aliens. It takes awhile to travel back to their home planet, that's why the updates take so long.

Hold onto the GW carts in case you have a friend with a system that can use it. Or you never know if they'll find a way to crack it. So answer:

For now, sorta screwed. Wanna unscrew? Get a Sky3DS. Hold onto your GWs. they work on N3DSXLs with FW 9.2 or below. So hold onto them.
