Yep, forgot about that stupid "let met check if you can format" thing on the 3DS. Don't take the risk and go with @Ricken's advice!

Great, thanks. The page here (http://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/System_Settings#System_Format) says that:
When you first enter the System Format menu, it will check if a NNID is linked. If there's a linked-NNID, it will then display: "Are you ready to connect to the Internet to check whether data can be formatted"? Continuing will only result in connecting to wifi for checking in with Nintendo's servers, which may fail if the console is banned. Once that's done it will continue with the usual system-format messages; proceeding will result in the NNID cookie, potentially still present on NAND backups or multiboot scenarios, being invalidated until the next sign-in (at which point even old sessions will be valid again)."

But regardless, I think I'll use TinyFormat just to be safe.

Even if you don't have your NNID, the (redownload) tickets should still be stored on your system
and if they aren't, I think we've all heard of That Iso Site

@Ricken and @Kyojin, thank you for all of your help! I successfully followed all of the steps in the guide (https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki) to properly downgrade and boot into CFW SysNAND. It took several hours, but everything seems to be working so far. I'll try to restore my save backups when I redownload my eShop purchases; we'll see how that goes. I did completely forget to back up my save file for Streetpass Plaza, so there goes years and years worth of puzzle pieces...

You're welcome! Glad it worked fine.

Really sorry for you StreetPass data, I completely know that feel since I've already lost my data once too. I can suggest that you use this nice little tool to unlock the puzzles you had completed before, it will help you recover most of your puzzle pieces, but sadly not your previous achievements and stuff (though you can use it to unlock all achievements if that's something you want).

If you want to switch the games on your Sky3DS+ to be games on your homemenu (CIAs), you can use JK's SaveManager to transfer the saves from the cart to the installed game.

The good thing is that you downgraded it + hacked it now that it is still possible, so now your N3DS is even more powerful than before (especially if you've enabled the N3DS clock speed). As an example, you can now stream games to your PC with something called NTR (that also enables cheat plugins, screenshots, real-time saves (experimental), and other cool stuff).

You can try out some emulators, since that was your main reason for homebrew access IIRC. I recommend RetroArch which is a set of emulator cores for different consoles/platforms. Note that the CIA versions are generally better than the Homebrew Launcher (3DSX) versions. For GBA and SNES, you can just install Virtual Console games.
