PSP games on PS3 are real

So I've been thinking why there hasn't been any soft of news regarding the 3.42 update. Perhaps they're waiting until 3.50 is released before they try cracking it?

Dunno seems really fishy to me. Firstly it's from Russia, not exactly reliable. Secondly he goes the 'it's too complicated to explain and i'm not going to leak the details' route. Very little has ever come from people who hoard supposedly 'secret' information. Finally he hasn't done what all the project that have had real progress have done. Post your code.

We'll see if anything comes out of this. But the moment he starts asking for 'donations' we'll know it's a scam.

I'm a bit unclear about this ID logging business. Obviously, you can't play backups online, and it's being said that you can't even be connected to PSN while playing a backup or you'll get banned. But my question is, if you completely disconnect your PS3 from the internet, will it still log that you're playing backup manager and send the info to Sony next time you log into PSN? Or does it only tell them what games you're playing WHILE you're actually connected?

Same, I am curious about that as well.

As the FAQ has indicated, your local profile stores the ID's of the games you play offline, then uploads them when you go onto PSN. Thus if your profile is 'tainted' with LAUN12345 games there is a possibility your PSN or PS3 could be banned.

Since no bans have happened yet, it's not known how Sony will respond to users using a Jailbreak. If you value your PSN account or going online, then act accordingly.

Just thought I would report what I found.

Although I haven't done much testing, I have removed the PS3Update File attached to a game (Approximately .250 GB big) and it booted up just fine. I doubt the game will ask for the file in the middle of the game, so it is a small possibility that it is possible to remove all game updates included on a disk prior or equal to your firmware version and still play the game without problems.

Can use AwesomeFileManager or FTP to delete PS3Update Files

It's an infection, remove the link (both of you).

NOTHING CAN MAKE A USB FLASH DRIVE INTO ONE OF THESE DEVICES BECAUSE THEY LACK THE HARDWARE. ANYTHING CLAIMING TO DO THIS IS FAKE.
How? I just scanned it with AVG and its a clean .rar file.

Then whats up with the comments?

It's still possible for a malicious piece of code not to get detected by a virus scanner. As Rydian had mentioned, it's not probable for something to make a normal USB device into a jailbreak dongle due to hardware issues. Especially since there has been no word about this type of event on other sites that are keeping up with new PS3 jailbreak developments.

About the comments, if I were to distribute a malicious piece of code, I would want people to download it. I would probably create users who say it will work considering that is all that is needed to get more people to download it.

Then how did HE find about the viruses in the .rar?

Do you mean multiple accounts?

Yeah, multiple accounts. I would assume its malicious coding just because it says it can do something we know isn't probable. I mean, if there is a big sign that pointed to a suitcase that said "Here is a million dollars", would you be suspicious?

A filemanager came out which allows you to transfer stuff on a external hard drive to the internal hard drive. However the external hard drive still needs to be formatted to FAT32. But if you're transferring from the internal to the external it will split anything above 4GB so it will work on the FAT32 system.

So you can successfully move files bigger than 4GB from internal to external but not the other way around.

Can it launch games that hit the 4GB limit, though?

It's not a backup manager, nothing is launched. It more or less a replacement for FTP transfer so you can use your external hdd as a middle man (put files on external, put external drive into PS3 and copy files to internal PS3).

For people like me with bad upload speeds it's great.

I think Rydian was asking that

Since the file manager splits isos over 4 gb, will the backup manager be able to play that game since it was split for each file to be less than or equal to 4gb?

Oh! Once you transfer it from FAT32 to the PS3's internal (slim32) it will automatically merge them.
