Thats the question. I have no games, nothing, only the console
Have you ever turned on the console.
Your easiest options all include you using a game cartridge to update to a specific software version, so I suggest you get ahold of one. Here are all of your options from easiest to hardest:
Get a game cartridge that updates you to 4.X or 6.X. After that, use a cheap DS flashcart to perform the MSET method to install B9S.
Get a game cartridge that updates you to 9.0-11.3 (preferably 9.0-11.0 for more choices to be available). Then, use an alternative entrypoint to enter the Homebrew Launcher and install B9S.
Update to 11.5 over the internet and then perform the DSiWare method to install B9S (requires a second O3DS that already has B9S on it).
Perform a hardmod and install B9S.
Wait for ntrboothax to be released (requires a compatible DS flashcart)
this is why I asked if he'd ever turned it on.
a 1.0.0-0U dump of a console that is completely new would be incredible to get hands on.
Oh. Well, then your best bet is either waiting for NTRBootHax or updating with a cartridge. Like Lacius said above
See my post above for all of your available options. You can use this website to find a game with the desired software version (preferably 4.X or 6.X): http://www.3dsdb.com/
Option #1 (the 4.X or 6.X MSET option), in addition to being the easiest option, is also your cheapest option. Get ahold of the game with the desired update, update, and then buy a cheap DS flashcart for less than $10.
Excelent! I already have a chinese DS flashcart from a broken DS, so now I have to get a game! (or a Sky3DS am I right?)
The DS flashcart needs to be compatible with 3DS system versions 4.X or 6.X. What kind of flashcart is it?
A game would be cheaper than a SKY3DS.
Can post a pic later, but I was using it on a non flashed new 3ds xl with 11.4.
Sky3DS price is high but can come handy, will try both ways see how it goes.
Thank you for your rapid and excellent help!
If it works on an OFW 11.4 3DS, then it will certainly work on a 4.X or 6.X OFW 3DS.
The SKY3DS is genuinely useless if you have CFW, so I don't recommend it. I don't know what your options are in the area you live in, but online, you can get a used 3DS game with the 4.X or 6.X system update for $10 or less.
Hi, Im going to get Fire Emblem Awakening that comes with 4.4.0U, whats the update preocedure? Put the cart and update? Thats it? Or I have to all of this (which I cant understand why):
Boot your device into recovery mode by holding (L) + (R) + (A) + (UP) while powering on
If prompted, decline the update
Reboot your device
Put the game in your device if it is not already
Attempt to launch the game
Update when prompted
That's recovery mode (which clears any predownloaded update, if any) followed by instructions for running a game for people too insecure to try
If you've never connected to the internet you don't have to do all of that. It is to delete any predownloaded update.
All went absolutely fine! Im super happy. Now, how do I block the 3ds from updating itself when left charging?
You can use TubeHax DNS. But there's nothing to fear from updates if you have installed B9S.
Thanks everyone. This thread can be closed!
