Okami is getting a sequel, and Hideki Kamiya is back to direct

Dropped as a tease at The Game Awards was that Hideki Kamiya is back at Capcom, he had reformed his former studio named Clover--now Clovers--and is working on a sequel to 2006's beloved action-adventure game, Okami. Kamiya will be joined by other staff who worked on the original game, though it may be a while off, as there's no release ETA nor were platforms announced.

Hideki Kamiya, director of the original Okami, will be the director of this project, which is being co-developed between studios that include various staff members of the original Okami: M-TWO Inc., Machine Head Works Inc., and CLOVERS Inc. – which Hideki Kamiya is a member of. What will the new adventures of Amaterasu and company be like? It will be some time before we greet you again, but we really hope you look forward to this project.

I cannot believe that one of my favorite games that Ive never touched but always watched as a kid is getting an officual sequel after all of these years....

This must be a masterpiece or else
Never too late to play Okami, it's available on most modern platforms. Though I personally prefer the PS2 version upscaled to 1440p/4K on an emulator since that's how I first played it, I've bought multiple copies. Might be time for another run through for that matter, I'm sure it'd look gorgeous on my OLED monitor.

will be interesting how the gameplay will be.
the game wasn't exactly a hit on the ps2.
it only rose to fame on the Wii
and to be honest, i couldn't stand the ds version - too pixelated
hopefully it comes to the switch

i don't know man, given how well capcom is doing with thier remakes and sequels, this is probably going to suck (and I guess Platinum became too bad to work for despite being the original Clover Studio's successor)

Unpopular opinion:
Tried the Wii version twice and absolutely can't understand the hype around this game. Something about the gameplay or movement of the wolf feels wrong.

Same thing on BG&E for me.

Good for fans though...me personally couldn't care less

Ok there were other versions before the Wii versions (and after) and if that's all you tried well duh no wonder you complain about the controls. Wii had tons of control problems on most games. It's not like this one will be on Wii.

DS only had a d-pad but I still enjoyed and beat Okamiden, this is a must buy for me.

Chary make a thread for new Onimusha it's not getting any attention. :(

You know, I've tried both Okami and Beyond Good & Evil, and I've never been able to finish them. Back in the day, I just kept getting pulled away. To this day, I don't know if they're as amazing as their reputations. I need to go back and finish them because they are, after all, Zelda-alike's. (I should throw Okamiden into the backlog too.)

Hideki Kamiya knows how to direct a good action game, so any project he's involved in has my attention. Let's hope it lives up to the reputation of the first game.

There was the DS game but it was more of a sidequel as you played as Ammy's son.

BG&E is only like a 5-6 hour long game. Okami is like 30 hours. I don't think BG&E is Zelda like but Okami is to an extent.

Okami is like a game and their sequel glued together, you have like 3 endings in different parts of the game.

I don't remember much of BG&E, but I thought the combat was somewhat 3D Zelda-esque. I never got far in Okami, maybe through the tutorial. If I remember correctly, Okami takes some time before it lets the player loose.

Your 30-hour remark jogged my memory. I didn't try Okami or BG&E until after college, at which point I couldn't invest in any game that didn't hook me from the absolute start. Man, times goes fast when you work it away.

@ShantaeFan123, I think Switch2 gonna use same OS, so switch1 games will be native played, not emulation. Basically just a beefed up Switch1. But I think the Switch2 games gonna be more secure/ extra copy protections and the motherboard on Switch2 redesigned so modchips harder (hidden connection points)
