If you go to the root of the "NDS - Flashing Hardware and Software" forums there are a lot of good suggestions and topics about which cards to buy. Scroll down below all the card specific forums.

For me it's one of two cards.

Budget = Acekard2 (new ver 2.1), $12.99 shipped from DX
All around best = CycloDS, ranges a lot, but you are usually looking around $40-50 or so

For my money, I'm getting the Acekard2. To me (each person is different though) the few extra features that CycloDS has aren't worth the cost. There are some other recommended mid range ones like Edge and M3 but I don't think they offer any more to justify the extra price over the now $13 AK2 (it was mid range, ie mid $20 range a couple weeks ago). But really it takes a lot of reading and research to find the best fit for you.

Or he could buy 3 Acekard2's or TTDS's each with 2 GIG cards, keep one for himself and give the other two to his friends or family members..
The price of the CycloDS is ridiculous.

I'm just searching for one that would play games well, like an r4, I don't care if one can get a remote airship to land on the moon... which one has the best compatibility and play the games best?

BTW I plan on keeping my R4 personally, I'm actually looking for alternatives for friends, they saw my card and they want one, I want to advice them the best out there... (I personally can arm7 fix my games and none of the games that interest me refuse to work anymore.) Only if a future title really does not work will I switch card.

so CycloDS is out of question, I think these are a big ripoff... (way too pricey)

I've heard EZ flash cards are ok, and heard DSTTwere good also. M3 is also out of question since it's a direct clone of R4.

$50 isn't too pricy, especially with all the stuff your getting in one cart

It seems likely that a flashcard that bypasses the normal ds boot process to a custom menu won't work on the new dsi. So if you are planning on buying a dsi in the future, you might to buy a flashcard that boots up in the normal way.

no. its all speculation right now. don't make comments like that until the hardware is in the hackers hands.

back on topic: why does everyone push the cyclods? its not THE best kit, it is however THE new mainstream kit. i personally love my RPG and ak2 more than anything else i've used. i own 7 flash kits now, going back to a 128mb gba kit. i think you should get an ak2 and use the AKAIO firmware.

You definitely do get a lot with the cyclods but for the same $50 you can get a Acekard 2, 4 GB microsd and 3in1 from dealextreme. That is hard to beat and is probably what i'll replace my G6 lite with.

K I'm seeing alot of response for the Acekard2...how big of a micro SD does it allow and how is the interface(menus) and game compatability and upgrading/"installing" the fimware? Basically is it straight forward pick your game and play or what? Thanks.

Another option is just keep your R4 and install the YSMenu firmware. $0

It supports sdhc so you should be able to use 8 GB micro sds as far as I know.

M3 real ( not simply ), updates are usually quite good and I havent had an issue with them up till Fifa 09, which I am sure it will be fixed shortly.....

See what features you want. See what card has them.... then pick one

    R4DS seems dead thus far....
No firmware update since April 2008.
I tried to contact them, but their contact button on the site doesn't work anymore [IMG]

I need an official update damnit. I don't want to use an ARM7 fix to play Sonic Chronicles >_> (only game thus far that doesn't work with V1.18)

Hmm... I wonder about that. With all the commotion about M3Sakura and the RTS-functionality, they might want to finish up a few things before releasing a new update. This is really a shame, the M3 Real support could be so good... They should just release M3Sakura in English and use the small rom compatibility file to fix roms. After that they should make an RTS-function.

I got some other cards other than an M3 real, and the M3 is the best.
Its pretty cheap, and has expansions that won't break after a week (take note, EZflash 3in1!)
And even better, they have CHOICE in terms of firmware!
