So, now that brawl has been released and is on the interwebs, could someone make a dvd5 rip of the game?
for the people who got a wiikey modded system and purchased, or will be purchasing the legit game (I'll get it in a couple of days, it's been shipped last friday), so that we can swap the dvd5 cooy with the legit disc.

that'd be nice. I'd be doing it if I had the appropriate dvd drive, but sadly, my to computers are both laptops

I thought the burnt copy of the full dual-layer disc will work with a wiikey, no swapping with a dvd5 rip necessary. It was only the original brawl disc that had troubles running. Or did I misinterpret?

you got it right, except I won't get DL dvds once again when I have a crapload of DVD+R sitting on my shelf, and with the legit game coming to my house.
And I think I'm not the only one facing this so...

I already have the JPN version running on a DL DVD

I have check this game with Wiiscrubber and Trucha Signer, Nintendo included 2 files called "dummy1.dat" and "dummy2.dat"... its just 2 big files with loads of 00 filling space.

They are 200mb each, Im checking through for more junk files, also I will try this with I get home. I have removed update file(guide how to skip the 15% check), wiiscrubbed it, regionfriied it to PAL.

EDIT: Found more, its loads of junk code in many files. just filling, seems like Nintendo want to make a Dual Layer hoping that it aint gonna be easy to copy.

have you tested with all junk removed? .. maybe if all junk is removed we may be able to fit it on a single layer dvd

I'm working on it, seems to be close if I just bypass that freaking update thingy.

EDIT: Shit I freaked out, Bully stopped working for me. But I checked the DVD and I hade put so fat fingerprints on it that the Wii couldn't read it. (Checked other game to so I wouldn't die)
Burning Bricked Block now.

Sorry but nogo... I manage to get "Brawl" screen but then after I press start, Black screen. Have to hard turn off the Wii to get it to start as normal again.

I guess the "Wiiscrubber" won't work to well, also Im using DVD+RWs from Verbatim.
I might try to whip somefiles and see if it works but probally not tonight.

How I done so far.

Wiiscrubber on the release,
Brickblock it with the latest Wiibrickblocker (1.3 r2)
RegionFrii it and then burned it at 4x.

Please no... I rather just be in the shadows watching newspapers flyby.
I think I found the error though, read through other forums that Wiiscrubber just supports Single-Layer discs, thats why its not booting up properly the game.

EDIT: I would like to know if someone with an NTSC Wii, if they do exactly as I done, except to Brickblock it and install that little update.
Will it run then? I remember the SMG game and Metroid Prime 3 where Brickblocker made the games to black on startup. Might be the same problem here? Else we have to wait until a PAL SSBB comes so I can toy with it.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. BUt i got my wii modded in vietnam last may. I know the chip says 12f629 and it comes with a paper with directions that say wii free. My cousin brought over his legit copy of brawl and its not reading is there a way around this, heard that the newer games arent working on modded wiis

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
