Ok, Im softmodding a friends Wii and its still on SM3.1.
I reckon its best that I updated to 4.1.

Since i dont want to use a ''safe'' installer, what would be the best way to do so?
Would installing IOS60 and then SM4.1 simply update the Wii? Or will i need to install several updated IOS' as well?

Thanks in advance.

i suggest you install the contents of the update.zip from my guide
aprt from IOS60 v6400 and the system menu

just install IOS60 v6174 and system menu 4.1 instead first

edit: no worries nabster92, your explanation is clearer than mine

update to 4.2 offline, manually installing every IOS you need to be up to date, first guide in the stickies.

Updating the system menu alone doesn't really do anything beneficial to you aside from getting the SD card menu. Doing that with all the up to date IOS's will be of more use.

I suggest just following that guide for everything you're doing.

Edit: beated.
