Hes talking about competitive pokemon. For the hardcore battlers(maybe).

STAB is on some move where they pierce defense(?)..something like that.
EV => Effort Values -> a means of boosting your stats
So for a Mix Sweeper, they want Attack, SpA, and some Speed(maybe).

Well...

Mixed sweeper = Pokemon that can take out teams, or least dent them (so fast + powerful, mixed means both special attacks and physical attacks)
STAB=>Same type attack bonus. It's mentioned by an NPC in D/P, if you use a move that has the same type as the Pokemon the power is multiplied by 1.5
EV=>something like that (http://www.psypokes.com/lab/evguide.php)
+2=>Two stages. Twice as much as say, Calm Mind, which is one stage. http://www.psypokes.com/lab/stats.php is more detailed

You can find fossils, items and equipment too.

I've found 3 Firestones, An Everstone (right name? i'm talking about the evolution prevention stone), A Round stone (happiny evolve), skull fossils, Steel Ball, And more.

Oh and I REALLY wish that you could register more than one item at a time (for L or R buttons) because it's really annoying having to go into my bag all the time, because i always have bike registered (dur!)

is it not possible to capture another npc's pokemon from them? Every time I use a pokeball, it gets swatted away and they always say: dont be a thief! BTW, ive never played any pokemon games ever before i tried Pearl for the first time. Im not sure how this all works.

Is there an online lise of all the Unown forms? I wanna capture them all, and i have a few but i dont know what letter they represent
Isnt always easy to tell

The first pattern in the Unknown cavern reads:
Top Right
Lower Left
Top Right
Top Left etc....
I hope this is a start for you in recognizing the letters they repressent.Its quite easy...

There was a cheat code for past games that lets you steal the NPC's pokemon.

Anyway training for the E4. Any level recommendations? Mine right now are low 50s. Training at Victory Road is a pain.

In the older games there was a code to capture other trainer's pokemon. I doubt such a code exists now.

The red dot that moves around for a little bit then starts back to it's first position? That just shows you where you were last located at and where you went.

1) That's what I meant.You can not do that now unless somebody hacks the rom but still it is difficult.At the moment it is not possible...

Gengar is an extremely fast pokemon and it has a high special attack stat. I believe the new move system (physical + special) improved it (in the older versions ghost type was a physical attack); Gastly would also be of the same skew in stats, however obviously lower.

Gyarados is generally a useful pokemon to have. Unusually high attack stat with a movepool of strong physical attacks at very early levels. Just don't teach it hydro pump or hyper beam as it has a horrible base special attack stat. It can also learn a large variety of physical moves from various types through TM and HM (rock, ground, water, etc)

To add, Gyarados has a high special defense so even though it's supposedly double weak to electric pokemon (it being a water and flying type) it can survive most powerful electric attacks like it wasn't even weak against it at all. The old bad thing about this pokemon is it's speed but having it equip Quick Claw might compensate a bit for that.
