ROM Hack Oersted's Castlevania DS Rom Hacks

Are you desperate to play as Yamcha in Dawn of Sorrow? Or perhaps Meta Knight? Why not let me alleviate it a bit?

I am Oersted, (windmill here on GBATemp) and I make DSVania romhacks for fun.


When it comes to making these, I've posted them all on Romhacking.net, but I figured I should open a thread on GBATemp to gather suggestions, and to release my hacks to an even wider audience. I am open to making hacks of all 3 DS Castlevanias, but Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia are the easiest for me.


Where can I download these hacks?
Each one is currently hosted on Romhacking.net, but I have planned to make a Gamebanana page, to bypass the sometimes week long Queue.



Can you add (Insert Character here)?
I mean... The point of the thread is half to gather suggestions. Just only give character ideas that have VALID SPRITES. I'm no spriter, I'm just skilled at making the characters work ingame.

Too big + too many colors + I'd have to animate him in little pieces because the un-assembled rips are still not good for this

Edit: By too many colors, I mean if I reduced it to the required 15, it wouldnt look good.

Update released for ZX + Omega.

Fixed a minor typo involving Yoko's cutscene.
Fixed a stray pixel on Omega that was pissing me off.
Improved Omega's Hitboxes while superjumping.
Increased Omega's offense even more.
Adjusted some frame timings for attacking, making ZX and Omega freeze up less.
Made some minor adjustments to ZX's Crouch attack animation. It's now slightly faster.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add sprites. Kirby there are a million sprite sheets out there so I'm sure you don't need that, but here's what looks like a custom one for Super Star Ultra style Dedede, with fleshed out animations to cover most of his Smash moves. Maybe that's something to work with?

dedede is freakin' huge, and people already complain about yamcha being too big. likely not doing it.

Can confirm all of them except Yamcha (have not played it), but Meta Knight is the only one I played in full. All on a DSlite, no issues.

funny enough, i can't make de meta knight one appear on the menu, i wonder what i'm doing wrong

edit: i feel like an idiot, i forgot to put at the end of the file ".nds", sorry, new to this kind of stuff.
But anyways, thanks for this amazing job you're doing, DoS is one of my favorite castlevanias, now i have more excuses to keep playin it
