Today THQ announced it has shipped Worms: Open Warfare 2, the latest edition of the long-running lighthearted strategy series, for the DS. This is the second Worms game to appear on Nintendo's handheld, and appears to be a marked improvement over Open Warfare. IGN recently rated the sequel an 8.7.

Fans of the series will find the classic Deathmatch gameplay they know and love, but several new modes have also been added for both single- and multiplayer, such as Rope Race, Puzzle, and Forts. An extensive campaign mode is available for lone Worms who don't like other invertebrates.

In addition to the classic Worms arsenal, 11 new weapons have been added like the Bunker Buster and Buffalo of Lies.

Must have been a lot of online activity for a game that haddn't even been released yet
