Hacking o3ds FW 8.1.0-19u

Mount a Devmenu/BigBlueMenu/FBI in .3DS format to install Sysupdater.CIA.

Evidently I'm missing something here. I can't figure out nor find a tutorial on how to mount anything in GW. I click on GW and it says something about no flashcart mode present.

To mount .3DS just simply press Select in GW mode.

You need a MicroSD on GW with at least one .3DS file.
If you had it, then it might be a contact problem.

Yeah, I just found more info on GW. That's just it, I don't have the physical cart. I just used the web interface exploit and just read GW mode won't work without the actual flashcart. It also states it's far to dangerous to downgrade without the physical media. So what's my other options to update sysNAND to 9.2?

As it stand I have RXTOOLs on emuNAND 10.3 I have FBI installed already, but I need to install the update app to sysNAND and have been told I can't do it through FBI...

When you keep or restore SysNAND 8.1.0-19U, FBI injection will work on it properly.

That's what I currently have on sysNAND, I never changed sysNAND at all. FBI installed fine and does what it needs to. So I should be able to use FBI to install sysupdater to sysNAND than with no issues?

Followed the tutorial to a T, updated from dev mode like it said, and bricked. Lovely. Yes, I have back up, yes I can solder, just a bit pissed off now.

- Make sure your 9.2 CIA pack is for O3DS, but not for N3DS.
- Make sure your 9.2 CIA pack is USA, but not JPN/EUR/other regions.
- Make sure you're using Sysupdater, but not FBI/Devmenu/BBM/other, to upgrade SysNAND on Devmode.
- Make sure you entered the Devmode. It's rxTools menu -> Advanced -> Devmode (Pasta mode).
- (New!) Make sure your Sysupdater is NOT 0.4b. (0.3 or 0.4.1 is safe but 0.4b is not)

I never made any mistake like these 4 above.

Since TC can do it once more, it may still work.

(Edit) By the way, there is a type of 2DS which has an over 1GB SysNAND, just like Samsung NAND chip on N3DS.
If someone use GW Launcher to format emuNAND on this type's 2DS, he/she will get a 2GB emuNAND which cannot be booted into.
I don't know whether it is a problem or not for the bricking.

Just went through all files again, noticed the update I used was for N3DS. Problem found, about to hardmod and fix the issue.

Everything is hooked up, got the would you like to format, etc. Which I know not to do, I went to wring NAND.bin and get an I/O error. Any idea what may be the cause?

Update, that was the damn lock button on the sd fell out, now I have a write error which I assume could be soldering issue at this point on the SD side.


Update 2

As suspected soldering issue on SD side, small bridge, flashed and unbricked, now to try this update with the correct update lol.

Glad to see your NAND hard-restoring going to be complete.

For my knowledge, you need to use Win32DiskImager for restoring the NAND image.

Yep, already past all that, NAND restored with no issues. Updated to 9.2 with correct update, all is good.
