Nvidia is releasing GeForce Now game streaming on the Steam Deck

Nvidia has announced that they'll be bringing their GeForce Now service to new platforms later this year. While you can already natively play PC games on the Steam Deck, Nvidia is bringing game streaming to the device, allowing for 4K resolution and 60fps gameplay on the Steam Deck, including ray-tracing and DLSS. A native GeForce Now app for the Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3, and Pico mixed reality devices is planned as well.

Why would anyone want to do this?
I'd guess to run games the Steam Deck isn't capable of? I use GeForce Now when I'm traveling but can't justify the bulk of a gaming laptop, and it is pretty good assuming you've got solid WiFi. Just runs from your Steam library and uses your cloud saves, so integrates well if you're already deep with Steam. The Deck is a pretty natural fit in that respect.

To be fair people were running uncompaitable games on SteamDeck since launch.

Anti-cheat games work on GFN, and some stuff just can't run well on a deck. I've mainly played PC games via cloud at one point, and it has benefits, not to mention that the deck isn't that powerful and some games just won't run well due to necessary performance.

I dont even know why sheep overhype the SteaDeck, they're special folks just like Nintendo fanboys.

Yes let's love a so called "gaming pc" that has a terrible featureless OS that lacks the most common sense features that it should have had from day one.

Inferior hardware restricting your gaming to decade old games or recent games that run so terrible.

Sole purpose of it being linked to Valves very own store, yet another common sense function to actually verify what it can actually run vs Valve bragging something to be verified and ends up running like shit.

And yes, its very likely if not FACT, nintendo are going to jump on the back of the hype as they did copying off the tablet market.

Like always, they'll release another low end next gen console (reminding of the fact the WiiU was their next gen to that of the PS4/XBX1 which are just slowly phasing out now), the Switch was its +1gen and still failed to compete with the current last gen consoles.

And now decades later, nintendo will release its console making it +2gens infront and yet it'll just be subpar to that of the PS4/XBX1 so hence comes the better third party support lie again aka all the titles nintendo always fail to get.

And you'd have to be stupid to not know why this is, as we know for a fact nintendo thinks it lives in a world where they dictate what others must do, if they don't like it, they'll sue you and try shut you down.

They dictate competition too, intentionally release cheap shit hardware to not only maximise profits, but they know their same old rinse repeat recycled shit will easily run on its console.

So deliberately having inferior hardware ensures third parties are not able to support them with their new AAA titles.

So nintendo sees to it that their shit has no competition and ensures it sells more.

While you are left with yet again another shit system to play old shit you already own or could own far cheaper.

And just like SteamDeckheads that blindly defend the SteamDeck, Nintendo fanboys must be the same simple minded fools.

Everyone making such hype over the "Switch2" and for what, same shit as usual.

SteamDeck 2 for what, for them to finally catch up with what's already on the market, well if claims of them using AMDZ2 aka inferior to already devices using 8840......

And all they'll do is love it, being restricted to playing old games......

What on earth are you griping about? The only games that are really unplayable on Steam Deck are ones crippled by things like Easy Anti-Cheat and crappy DRM protection. It might not play everything at ultra settings in 4K at 120 FPS, but just about everything I've thrown at it can run at 30 FPS on the native 800p resolution with medium settings. I have to wonder what AAA games you're complaining about...

I'd prefer to stream from my 4090 than paying for streaming services...

So I can finally free up disk space on my Deck, because Baldur’s Gate 3 is taking up too gosh dang much.

I still got a friend nagging me to play the game with him now and then and I like to keep the option open.

Honestly, I tried the steam deck beta, and it is just a python script that installs chrome, a bookmark to geforce now, and a shortcut in steam gaming mode. It could be different now its out of beta, and it probably works better on an actual steam deck (i ran it on a holoISO machine), but dont get hopes too high.

I swear... Every time you comment, I am very worried you're having a stroke or some sort of medical emergency.. The fact that you took the time to type up this incoherent drivel shows you don't know what the Steam Deck is and what it can do.

"Common sense" features? Like... It's a computer, in a handheld form factor that's pretty capable for what it is and does. What are you expecting here?

"They dictate competition too"... I bet you'd love to visit Sweeney's house, huh? Nothing that Valve has done, in any way, shape, or form has "dictated" the market and what products are available. I can think of a few other companies who have though.

"So nintendo sees to it that their shit has no competition and ensures it sells more." What in the ever loving, flying funk does this have to do with the topic?

People like you are why I wish there was a genuine block feature. Nothing you have posted, from today or within the past decade has provided meaningful conversation to the temp. Why you're still allowed near an internet enabled device is well beyond me.

It's one thing to have an opinion... It's another to be so confidently wrong at a consistent level that I feel you really should be restricted to the EotF. Oh dear god, please, get some help.

On topic: I'm not a fan of Nvidia's streaming services. However, they provide decent quality and people have utilizing workarounds to access this feature and service. Not sure why it took them this long, but better late than never.
