I have problem with Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Within about a hour or two of game play, the game will crash by looping a loading screen or having the controls lock up and the music skip like a broken CD. After the game has crashed I am forced to turn off my Wii. I cannot return to the Wii menu.

I am using Configurable USB Loader v62 running CIOS222 m-load.
*I have used CFG USB Loader V63b 222 with both anti 002 ON and OFF

I am using a WD My Passport 750GB USB HDD.
It's ISBN is; WDBABM7500ASL-00

I have also tried 223 m-load and it yields the same result.

I cannot use CIOS 249 as it causes ANY game to crash.
This is because I am using a NTFS formatted drive.

If anyone has got this game working %100 could you please be so kind as to state what scene release you obtained you dump from and what cIOS's, and Loaders you used.

*I have tried two different dumps and still have random crashing problems.

*I am not using a WBFS formatted HDD as I would like to use my USB HDD for other things besides Wii games, like storage for my DS and PSP backups as well as for my MP3s and other stuff that I would like to protect from a PC Hard Drive Crash.
This problem is very annoying, somebody please help.

* = New/Edited portions of post.

I had this problem too an it is quite annoying.

My games are all on a wbfs formatted drive, so I switched to wanin's cIOS rev20 (base 56, slot 249). I'm at about 190% now and the freezing doesn't happen any more.

It might be worthwhile to try older versions of Hermes cIOS (v4 or v5) and see if it happens.

TO BE ADDED

-=What I hope to accomplish=-
-To be able to play Donkey Kong Country Returns (DKCR) on my Softmodded Nintendo Wii using a WD 750 GB My Passport Essential SE USB HDD that is formatted as NTFS.

-=Some Facts=-
-I have TWO backup copies of DKCR that I have been testing
--The First Copy is from a torrent labeled [WIISOS]
--The Second Copy is from [WIIZARD]
-BOTH backup copies appear to suffer from the same problem, they randomly crash at some point
-DKCR appears to be the ONLY game on my USB Device that has this problem.

-=Things I wonder=-
-If there is an ALT.DOL file for DKCR that fixes this problem?
-Is game compatibility going to be extended in a later version of CFGUSB Loader?
-Anti-Piracy after all?
-HOW PEOPLE GET THIS GAME TO RUN FLAWLESSLY!?!

No, there is no Alt.Dol file. CFG should be able to play this game could be a bad rip ???

i only enabled 002fix and still didnt need it. Piracy??? LoL not even
smile.gif
I used WiiFlow rev304 to play this game flawlessly but from what i've seen CFG plays this game as well. I only use WiiFlow for forwarder channels on my SM since wiiflow loads faster and has same compatibility as CFG or believed so far they both play the same.

Things you should know is DO NOT ENABLE INVINCIBILITY! sometimes when you drop down a hole you wont die and you will have to restart your game however Infinite Lives will solve this problem so it doesn't matter how much you die

this was the only problem i had with this game. you should try a different source.

Wiiflow rev304 [222] with cIOS222rev5.1

CFG 60 222mload with cIOS222rev5.1

These are my setting as i dont like to use 249 or 250 unless i absolutly have to. Bad exp. back in the day after rev14 was updated and my wbfs drive would not work with it no matter how much i tried to reinstall rev14 never got it working untill i swapped to fat32 drive LoL i know a little off topic but i would advise hermes cIOS over waninkoko.

I am using Hermes cIOS 222 and 223.

I have two backups of the game that I have downloaded from the internet. One was from the tracker [WIISOS] another was from the tracker [WIIZARD].

I thought the WIIZARD one would work as WIIZARD is a release.

What torrent or download did you get your copy of the game? I am not asking for a download link here, I am just asking for a keyword. Like the scene release group name.

Okay I just launched CFG USB Loader and told it to check for updates;
The version that I was running was v62 STABLE.

The latest version is v63.
I updated to v63 222 (v63 222 has cIOS 222 m-load set to default)
I wonder if this will solve my problem.

Nope, that did not fix the problem, it still crashes.

If anyone has got this game working %100 and has played it 3 hours with absolutely no problems, could you post the name of the scene release and torrent you got it from?

In case it is a bad dump, my copy of the game came from a torrent from "WiiSOS".
As you own the game (because downloading the Torrent without owing the game would be illegal) you could just dump your retail.
If you don't own it STFU and by the game.

You know, I hate tempers that troll on topics like this!
"Just STFU and buy the game."

If I just wanted to up and buy the game, then I would not have ever hacked my Wii, bought a 750GB HDD, or even signed up on GBATEMP! So why don't YOU STFU as your troll statement has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with THE SUBJECT!

1)I am NOT asking for a download!
2)I am asking for which release of the game works
3)I have tried TWO dumps with Anti-002 ON an OFF and the crashing still occurs
4)I have no intention to start a dang FLAME WAR on this topic.

OFF-TPOIC POST CONTAINED IN SPOILER BELOW:
Going off subject here for a moment to state my feelings to the current "community" of GBA TEMP.

It has come to my attention that GBA Temp has been filled with wise-guys and n00bs that just don't know when and when not to post their cheese-ball comments! All they want is NOW or to put down other GBATEMP users. This sickens me to no end. I know that PheonixGoddess likes to translate games, however recently I have seen nothing but n00bs nagging for a "ENGLISH PATCH" for a Japanese game left and right. I have also seen with the release of Pokemon Black and White, more n00bs that complain for a ANTI-PIRACY FIX!

xander150, the last half of your post was completely unnecessary.
I am considering getting a gamefly account to get the Wii games that I wish to dump and then rent n' dump them. That would be illegal too as I would not OWN a physical copy of the game while possessing a backup, HOWEVER! Some money is being spent in a monthly subscription so it (seeming to me anyway) is a bit more legit than downloading for a torrent (and a hell of a lot faster too!)

All I was asking of people is if they got Donkey Kong Country Returns working then what dump of the game did they use, what loader did they use, what cIOS did they use, etc, etc. I can plainly see that I'll seldom get any help here. I guess I'll have to go to OTHER HOMEBREW/BACKUP LOADING SUPPORT FORUMS and ask there.

Oh, big shocker there! Yes, there are other homebrew and backup discussion forums than GBATEMP. The Temp just happens to be one of the largest!
I was simply asking;

"If anyone has gotten Donkey Kong Country Returns [NTSC USA] working %100 from what dumper did they get the game from and what settings and loaders are they using?"

I speak English but I SUCK and wording my sentences correctly to allow others to grasp the idea of what I am trying to say. >:(
