WTF, so fast! All I can say is pirate away, because this game made Nintendo a really big load of money.

NSMBW Attracted users of all ages, as of SMG only people of an older age,

Unsurprising. Nintendo shoved NSMB Wii down the throats of every Wii-owning family as a "fun, family-friendly game!" with the bullshit that is Super Guide (let's face it, Super Guide doesn't do jackshit when it comes to leveling the field for hardcore and casual). SMG wasn't really marketed as a family-friendly game because they knew it was gonna sell. Yeah, not the 10+ million copies well, but good enough.

What the fuck? Super Mario Galaxy is way better then New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I actually don't enjoy New Super Mario Bros. Wii that much. Not worth the money. I purchased it before I hacked my Wii.

This only happened because Nintendo advertised this like crazy. I barely saw any ads on Super Mario Galaxy.

    Heh...

and Ninty still complains about not making enough money.

Seriously, 4.2 million x about a $50 average price per copy = about $210,000,000 total.

Thats alot of money, and thats only within 45 days! How can Nintendo complain about those numbers!?

Do notice that some of the money from the sale goes to the retailer and various other companies.

Still, Nintendo makes a lot of money. Especially, the DS. It literally prints money!

You're forgetting that Super Mario Galaxy was pretty much single player, whereas NSMB Wii can almost be considered a party-type game.
Plus, the unique red case probably boosted the "impulsive buying" sales category.
Lastly, when Galaxy was released back in 2007, there were still many people who could not find a Wii in the stores, thus they would have no reason to buy Galaxy. Then when they finally did get a Wii, Galaxy was an old game already and not a "must-buy."

I'm not surprised it sold this much in such a short amount of time. The game might not be as fun if you were playing solo, but playing with 4 players makes it heckuva lotta fun. Though I kind of wish it had some competitive mini-games like in NSMB for the DS.

Yeah, the games are comparable yet so far away. Like the previous points mentioned, there was the large install base, red boxart, multiplayer, and TV ads that got NSMB tons of sales. Mario Galaxy just had some pic of Mario in outer space [IMG]

its how the game is presented tht makes the difference rather than the content at times...
u may not have seen FF7 advertised very well previously (the PS1 title) but it became famous for its game while Kingdom Hearts (DS) has been advertised hugely, it isnt as good as the adverts say so (its good in a its own way not as much as it was said so)
