But IIRC the very 1st leaked one required, that the disc drive on the Wii had actually to be empty when starting it up and that one should only put the disc in once promted to do so.

In particular i'd like to know if it's safe/ok to simply treat backup games like originals: Put in disc -> Play -> Switch off Wii at some point -> Then power up Wii again at some point with backup game still in Wii -> Play game again via Loader
Basically the only difference being, that you use the backup loader channel instead of the disc channel, but can otherwise treat the backup discs like originals.
