Sorry if people perceives this as something really noob but i really need to hear your opinions as Vita Memory Card format is the only thing that prevents me to look for a secondhand Ps Vita.

After Henkaku explosion and Team Freak's Vitamine 99% chances of being true... Cobra Black Device has sunk as fast as a submarine made of paper.

But... I still rescue from them THAT SD Adaptor to conect on the Vita MC plug.

So, the question is, as VitaShell is getting really hot... Any chance about a SD Adapter Device being developed in the next months?

Sony in their infinite wisdom made the cards as small as Micro SDs so an adapter can't be made,
maybe a dongle? and even then they are encrypted witch makes them slower to read and write.
They are the worst case of anti-consumer DRM I have ever seen and I hope they are defeated
once and for all.

Maybe a hardware mod, to weld in our own Micro SD slot would be a better idea, and make
the system write there instead. Just an idea I had.

There was a Vita memcard adapter in the works.
I don't think we'll get something like a photofast like device ever for the Vita tho.
Never heard of it. Could you provide me any link? Probably is not going on but at least for curiosity.

Of course, i dont think we are getting anything like photofast, as i guess Vita Card Type is completely locked to Sony management... But... At the end of the day Chinese do what they want. XD Hope something finally comes.

Exactly. But, i thought maybe there was another option... Truly ugly maybe but, Vita Game Cards size could like to a MicroSD Cars adapter.

Having VitaShell, it could be easily used. Just bad fantasies and logical guesses, but i expect someone to be more tecnical specific about this question.

Won't work.
The MSD doesn't support the needed protocols.

Can't find it anymore.
There where a bunch of names printed on them, along st4rkdev his name.
There wasn't soldered anything to it.
Just a small PCB with some debug pinholes.

If the chinese would do anything it would be to clone the Vita memorycard and produce cheaper ones.
Or take 4GB and hack them to display 128 GB.

I mean weld in our own MSD slot and as for software, if they allow
home brew maybe something can be installed?

P.S. That catboy from Lady Bug is so gay :P

I hope you mean solder.
If you where to get a welding machine near some PCBs....

I'm not to familiar with the Vita memcard protocols and data lines but I think it's not even doable.
For what it's worth (majority of the people's perspective), getting a 64GB memcard is a better option then to fuck around with those kind of things.
I wouldn't be surprised if there would be an internal adapter made that would fit in the Memcard slot which would then house a MSD on the outside, stuck to the Vita perhaps, or internally (no access to the MSD)

Yes, and i wouldnt mind. Its not a question of using MicroSd. Its a question about paying "X" size memory in the nearest price of an original "X" size Microsd.

64GB for 100 Dollars its one of the biggest "4ThePlayers" Facepunches ive never seen in my entire life.

Welcome to the world of capitalism and proprietary memorycards.
Memorystick Pro Duo had the same thing.
PS2/Xbox/GCN memorycards also sported 8MB or less for absurd amounts of money.

At least my 64MB MAX Memory Card and USB save data utility saved us in those moments. Dolphin can save me in this moment. And Xbox 360 Emulation on JTAG can save me too after all these years. XD

But... Nothing can save us from this big piece of... right now

Not to mention proprietary power cable, no wonder the Vita flopped,
Yo Dawg we heard you liked DRM! xD

TYL.
Nah, Sony got rid of that port with the 2K vita.
It supports charging and data transfers via microUSB.

360 emulation on a JTAG....

Eh, yeh, third party memory cards are an option.
Tho I personally don't trust them (shitty build quality, high chance of corrupting and what not)

Sorry, didnt explain it. I mean, ORIGINAL Xbox Emulation on JTAG Xbox 360 (you know, using the Emu Utility that Microsoft put in it). Not the same 250GB than 8MB.

Anyway, ive been victim of shitty memory cards, but as long as you keep a backup of the files in time, wouldnt be a matter for me (in this case of course).

Original Xbox emulation sounds a lot better indeed.

Keeping backups of everything is a wise choice.
The more important a piece of data is, the more backups one should have.
To bad it's quite hard on unmodded consoles (Xbox mainly...)

I just realized, without a way around the Memory cards, hacking the Vita would be pretty lame,
how many games can you fit in one card? and they cost a fortune!

There's a thing called stripping languages.
It usually shaves off quite a few megs.
PSP did the a similar tactic with compressing ISOs.
I don't think they'll reach over 4GB, so say 20 Vita games on 1 64 GB memcard?

Then again, there's not much games for the Vita anyway.
Most of them are on other platforms as well, in better quality.

In fact, lot of indies and little games. You just need to see 100 Best Games on Metacritic. True is there wont be too much games with more than 1GB. Even Sony made here a disgusting crap: Not letting games to be bigger than 4GB led developers to compress games files and lose quality like using a hydraulic press. Man... What a heartbreaking experience was playing Jak Trilogy... And i read God of War 1&2 was a mess too.

Why we have to use the current memory slot?
We can t use an adapter, because the memory is too small.
But, what about the cartbridge slot?
Now we know that the vita sends some common sd commands to that port and there s an hypothesis that it should be able to read sdcards.

The main problem is i can t play my carts.
We can "fix" this when a cart dumper will be released.
No problem for those with digital games.

The other problem is how can i backup my carts with this?
Well, you can t.
Solution: game max size is 4gb(?), so just buy a cheap 8gb card and use it to backup your games.
Remove the sd adaptor and insert the cart + original memory.
Backup, ftp/cma, reinsert the adapter.

I think this the best solution, unless the cart port is slow as hell.
