I have a quick question: I modded my Wii a couple years ago while it was on FW 3.2 (I think). If I wanted to update it to the current mods and add a USB loader would it require that I update the firmware manually or are thoe updates included in the softmod files? Is it OK to just follow the method in the sticky thread on here?
Just use ModMii for the update process.

download modmii, from the main menu enter "U" for help setting up a usb-loader. The usb-loader setup guide assumes ur wii is already properly softmodded, if this is not the case for u, u should first use ModMii Wizard feature to softmod ur wii before setting up a usbloader

Thanks XFlak, it worked! I formatted the drive to FAT32 with wii backup manager and did everything you said and now everything runs smoothely, even the games that didn't work before when I used usb loader gx.

Hello,

I'm noob with Wii, so my first post is the Q: what is the value of NAND-backup, when I do it for fw 3.3E and after them I update fw to 4.1E using ModMii (by the way thnx to XFlak for his great job). So, is it possible to restore my Wii in case with that 3.3 NAND or do I need new backup? Howewer my Wii is already provided with cIOS.

When there is any FAQ or tutorial for Wii restoring, so please point me.

Hi, you would be able to restore it with bootmii boot2. If you just have bootmii ios then some people are able to do the job for you. But most likely you'll never need to restore a NAND backup :P Just keep it on your pc.

I've been away from the scene for a while. But i just tried to play my copy of mario and sonic at the olympics and it's saying i need to update first. Then the update is failing (my wii is softmodded of course). Do i need to install some sort of custom firmware to play this game?

Load the game through a backup loader for a temporary fix. For a permanent fix, do what FIX said.

Games not detected under Usb-Loader or WiiFlow using a USB portable drive. I made sure the drive is listed as working and compatible. The portable drive is partitioned with Fat32(200mb) for the Apps, and NTFS(465Gb) for the games. In the NTFS partition, I have mostly ISO's and one WBFS file. Have tried different IOS's on the Usb-loader app with the "CfgLoaderConfigurator" and still nothing detected. I am new to Wii modding, but have followed the ModMii beginners guide and instructions thoroughly. Not sure what I am doing wrong, - below is the read out from my system check.

-EDIT - UPDATE: WiiMC does recognize both partitions. and though I have tried ALL IOS's, the usb-loaders(3 total) I tried do not detect the games still.

Hi guys, i was pointed in your direction by a friend, he stated you may be able to help me out.

hacked my wii a few years ago, all was well. it gathered dust whilst i waited for the new Zelda, having recently had it returned from a friend of mine so i could start playing my longawaited skyward sword.

Sadly my idiot friend removed the SD card with all config data and nand data stored within, the fool then wiped it stating "oh i didnt think all that stuff was important"

so now i am sat here rather fustrated with a wii using operating on 4.2e and its telling me it needs to update so it can play skyward sword, it runs through the motions of trying to update and then crashes out. have tried updating over my wifi and i get the same issue.

if anyone has any ideas (other than never lending a wii to an idiot) i would really appreciate the help.
cheers

i should have also said, my idiot friend also managed to loose all the homebrew channels too (because he chose to update it), will this be an issue?
