    If only!!
Ill try and remove the files added by cgtp-r, I effectively did a 'merge' of cgtp-r into the sd card. Hopefully that will fix it, otherwise ill try wii.guide

I have had some reports of older versions working, but I think there were certain hoops that had to be jumped through, and the person who figured it out never documented\reported it properly.

If someone gets it working, I'll document the steps and communicate it on the modmii sites

Anyone got the last version of the homebrew channel that just worked from the sd card? I am in firmware 4.0U and I need it to update to 4 1.U.

Yes I was stupid and deleted it - -

Edit2: Found it, good thing I had backups.

Edit3: Okay, it took me like a hour to figure it out and ended just editing a copy of the backup of my nand but I got emunand working on the Wii. Nowadays I think Wiiware is best to run on a PC Wii emulator unless your computer is too crappy. Even so running a Emuhand makes it unlikely for my Wii to get bricked when using Wiiware.

My homebrew apps aren't showing up at all on The Homebrew Channel. I had everything ready but that apps aren't showing. On a side note, I also have to redump all 50 of the Japanese Namco VC arcade WADS since the dumps aren't good either. I need a noob friendly guide for that. Used BootMii and it doesn't work.

In the hbc press 1 and make sure the appropriate device is selected

Make sure device is formatted properly (fat32) and apps are saved to device:/apps/name/boot.dol or boot.elf (some apps also need a meta.xml to work properly)

For dumping, use blue dump mod as described here : https://wii.guide/dump-wads.html

Also for wiiware is best to use an emulated nand.

I have a Wii from like 2008 that I softmodded a million years ago. My son wanted to play with it so we hooked it up and he ran an system update. I tried to put in D2x cIOS in 249 and 250, but still it wont load USB-games. When I load a USB-game the console hangs. It is completly stuck, need to push the power button for 5s to shut it down. Screen is black, controller turns off and cant re-connect.

    Any ideas?

Your Wii needs cleaning and may be bricked.

Also "My son wanted to play with it so we hooked it up and he ran an system update. "

    That was really dumb.

Is it possible to hack Classic Controller usage into games that stupidly don't feature it?

Oh good - I absolutely detest the forced implementation of such inherently flawed, inaccurate and aggravatingly-frustrating technology for this console, which ended up killing any enjoyment I might've had for its game library.
Anything to replace such half-baked tech is a welcome improvement, in my eyes, though it still baffles me why utilising the Classic or GameCube controllers wasn't more common in case the primary, gimmick option utterly failed.
At least Nintendo learned from this repulsive console, and made motion controls a rare tertiary option for its next console, and wisely didn't make them compulsory for the console after that.

In short, you have my gratitude for informing me about this possibility.

Bricked seems far off since it works with original games. Running the update wasnt my choice and I dont see that comment bringing any value at all.

I have deleted all cIOS entries and re-installed d2x, but still the same issue. If I force the original game to run on IOS249 (d2x) it will show the exact same symptoms.

So, anyone want to tell me how to clean and reinstall?

Have you tried bluebomb or another 4 3 hack?

And a Wii can be parcially bricked and still run games, that's what usually happens when you update a hacked Wii.

Semi brick happens when you update the wii using discs from different region. It used to happen a lot when people were playing with backup discs with modchip- It's kinda rare to see these days unless his son was trying to play a foreign game.

Also, his Wii already has Homebrew Channel installed, so talking about trying othet exploits are not needed at all. He needs to reinstall overwritten cIOSes in order to regain access to homebrew.

While I'm not an expert at all when it comes to IOS related stuffs, here are my 2 cents-
You could first fully update your Wii to 4.3, and then try to use ModMii and overwrite IOSes with ones that it provides. It should provide all the necessary IOSes to run homebrews, including USB Loaders.

I have not tried to run bluebomb or any other 4.3 since I thought only 4.1 hacks work on 4.1 so I will try that.

When I force games to load on IOS249 in priiloader the original game freezes the console in the same way as the USB-games does which brings me to the theory that my cIOS in 249 doesnt work well with my console for some reason.

Thanks, I will search for how to update to 4.3E

Dude, this isn't relevant at all. He already has the HBC installed, going back and running a different exploit isn't going to accomplish anything

some stubbed cIOS slots does not qualify as a semi-brick. A semi-brick from an update would be a 003 brick on a poorly region changed Wii that was formerly Korean. This situation is not classified as a semi-brick, but simply an update that removed some of his softmods.

@Remuz, can you please post your latest\current syscheck? And for future reference, you should generally try not uninstalling things, but rather overwriting them. Also, if you drag and drop your syscheck.csv log into ModMii.exe it will make recommendations for you and generate a guide for you to follow

based on the syscheck above, your cIOSs look OK. You could try selecting cIOS250 (i.e. d2x base 57) and seeing if you have better luck with that option.

Make sure you are running the latest version of your usb-loader, and\or try multiple loaders. Also make sure you try multiple games, if it's just 1 game that's failing, some games require unique solutions, but the vast majority should work with default settings and with either your 249 or 250.

So in your next post provide your syscheck, and the game(s) that are failing, and the loaders you've tried.

Also, what is the format of your HDD? FAT32? WBFS? Is it a thumbdrive? Do you have a nand backup from before the update so we can see what was installed previously?
